No it's not. Batting and aggressive batting lineups generally win World Cups.

Between the 2 you always compensate bowling strength if you don't have a choice.

Who said that, India with all the batting depth only could score 260 in 2011 semfinals.

Bowlers bailed them out then .

India needs 4 bowlers plus two allrounders to compete. So it will be either Jadeja/Axar plus Pandya plus 4 bowlers.

This 100%

People here just cannot digest the fact that we cannot afford Pandya and Jadeja at 6 and 7 while having a pathetic 8-11 who can't muster up 20 runs to save their lives. Having 6 out and out bowling options is not a necessity but a luxury that teams like England can afford thanks to their insane depth upto no.11.

Need to go back to what MSD did in 2011 and have 7 genuine batting options while somehow getting 10 overs from two of them.

Not just that. Teams that have batsmen until 6 are already considered bowling heavy sides.

Teams that bat until 7 are considered batting heavy . Australia went in extra batting heavy in 2015 with 7 batsmen and Faulkner at 8!

India are just being stupid by playing only 5 batsmen. No team has won playing that extra bowling heavy balance and no team will.

One torrid spell of bowling in the PP will remove top 3 and then we will start tuk tukking because we don't have depth.

We won't chase or set above par scores then

Batting depth is what allowed India to score 260 in the first place. Raina at 7 was crucial.  And no, part timer Yuvraj struck crucial blows to derail their chase.

Trouble is all the four bowlers are dud batsmen.

Bumrah,Shami,Siraj  + Kuldeep

None can bat.

So India does not bat past 7. That is just the way it is unless you replace Kuldeep with Axar which makes the attack much less potent.

Same was the problem in 2019

That was Yuvi bowling full quota, Yuvi if he was playing today would not be bowling full quota due field restrictions.

Zak could bat , so could Bhajji. Bhajji won a match hitting six that too off Akthar.

What did that extra batsman do in the chase of 350 in 2003. If you need extra batsman to score 260, you don't deserve to win the cup.

These days Indian bowlers cannot bat a lick.

I would go with spin bowling all-rounders at 7 and 8,  Kuldeep and 2 proper quicks.

If it is a green track then replace Kuldeep with 3rd proper quick.

India lacks guys like Marcus Stoinis, Maxwell who are primarily big hitters and can contribute with ball. Both are stunning fielders as well. Proper 3D players. India does not need 5 perfect bowlers. Infact even very good bowlers can travel on a flat wicket.  Down the order batsmen should be able to both build and hit. Unfortunately they are just not bad batsmen also bad fielders

Jadeja is completely useless in ODIs.

India need batsman who can bowl and not bits n pieces like Axar and Shardul.

Bits and pieces works in T20s but not in ODIs.

That is why Tilak ia needed along with Pandya and Jadeja to bowl 20 overs between them ans also allowing an extra batsman like Sky to be in finisher role ( just like Raina).

I strongly believe this playing XI can work.

Rohit

Gull

Kohli

Tilak

KL

Pandya

Sky

Jadeja

Kuldeep

Bumrah

Siraj

Reserves:

Jaiswal or Iyer

Shami

Axar or Shardul

Yuzi

How is Tilak Verma's bowling ?

Can he send down 5 overs overs match ?

If so then he can be one of our spin bowling allrounders and share the 5th bowler's load with Hardik.

Tilak could have easily bowled in all 3 ODI and 5 T20..that would have tested him throughly...

Still can test him Asia Cup.

Why everyone is backing Rahul, i am not sure.

I assume it's a case of keeping hope on someone when nother option is there to keep any hope on. Reasons being :

1. Pant and Shreyas are injured. No update on Shreyas fitness either.

2.SKY has failed to create any mark in ODIs.

3. Samson seems to have similar problem on lines of KL, catchy on eyes but seems vulnerable vs quality attacks. Can produce a terrible shot outta nowhere and get out.

4. Tilak and rest are still inexperienced and going into World Cups, team will figure out his weakness and restrict him to produce runs.

5. Kishan is not a good middle order option.

Actually, unfortunately this side too has more than one power centres ,so each one tries to evolve strong look like they are capay enough to lead the side beyond Rohit and Kohli

One such figure in recent times is Pandya,he too just to secure wins was going for safer options and route

Tilak,Jaiswal all could have been used more

Infact bilaterals are mostly used as preparation ground by sides, and they try deserving candidates

This was refreshing to see Tilak,Jaiswal else this time too they could have tried musical chair participants

Yes,very little time there, whatever little it is we should harness their skills atleast for the next event
