Is it OK for the umpire to not call a wide to benefit a batsman chasing a milestone?

The title assumes that

1.  The Umpire did not call a wide.  This is a fact.

2.  The  “not a wide call” benefitted the batsman. This may or may not have been the case, as in the end even if it had been called it would not have mattered; Kohli hit a six.

3.  The Umpire did not call the wide in order to benefit the batsman.  This assumption is unproven as we cannot know what the Umpire was thinking. Perhaps his underarms were stinking and he didn’t want to give them air?

However in the nation of Pakistan this is regarded as entirely conclusive evidence of a conspiracy against that great state.  Expect PCB to issue a strong statement against the dushman mulk.
