See, Its not about how good Bhumrah is. icf is complaining is what Zak did in 2003. But same Zak was key in 2011. Question is, WIll Bhumrah loose the baggage and perform his natural best

Accuracy was missing. Infact Kuldeep was the one who stepped up big time by landing without any error after 40th over. If he had gone for runs game would have been over.

He needs to relax as he is the most important player on the team for finals.

 

Shami ,Kuldeep, Rohit or Kohli are not as important as this guy.He needs to start well  to calm his nerves then his skill will take over.

Shami was brilliant. He hardly missed his line or length. Siraj fell for experiment one more time. But Bumrah was very un-Bumrah. Yorkers were becoming full tosses.

Those happen when you are tensed up.

 

Siraj has been a mental wreck for whole tournament.Plus I don't think he is as good as either Shami or Bumrah.So it is understandable that he has issues. Siraj to me has built soft stats based on beating up weaker teams.

Why mention this match and not the virtual quarter final match vs new Zealand? if anything the match vs pakistan would be the "meaningless group stage match" and the new zealand match would be the important pressure match because that actually determined who would make the semis after india lost vs pakistan.

Good thread. 

Like batsmen are accused of being stats padders in meaningless bilateral odis without much pressure - Bumrah is the bowling equivalent of that. 
 

In big matches where title is on the line like this - the likes of Starc and Cummins are 5 times the bowler Bumrah can ever be. 
 

The bigger the match the worse Bumrah performs. 
 

And the worse part about Bumrah is … if he has a bad start to his opening spell - he never recovers in the entire bloody match - be it an ODI or Test Match. 
 

This is where Shami is a beast - if he goes for runs in the opening spell - he takes a bagful of wickets with the old ball.

Couldn't you argue the same about the Pakistan match? Not trying to say bumrah is or isnt a chocker but alot of this stuff seems overly nitpicky. He picked up early wickets in semis vs west indies in 2016 and against new zealand in 2019 losses but jadeja, pandya, ashwin/Chahal couldnt capitalize in the middle overs. Ashwin even bowled a terrible no ball vs the windies that probably cost them the game. no one after those matches blamed bumrah. Even in the these semis bumrah had a good game in the context of the match.
