Nothing will happen to him- if he is lying and committing fraud essentially to not play Ranjis,, BCCI should theoretically terminate his central contract and terminate his IPL contract too

Can they terminate IPL contract?

I think they can

There is this mechanisms in Indian cricket which gives too much powers to seniors star cricketer's.

The seniors can rest ,skip matches they like and make a comeback like nothing as happened, meanwhile such a players is selected who can be easily dumped once the star player is back.

Iyer is following the same path .

rotten star culture and BCCI is encouraging it by empowering IPL/ Sports management lobbies- its not about setting the right standards for cricket quality but rather to milk more money from Indian fans using star players

Iyer has had a major back surgery . He will have regular issues with his back.

BCCI should not be foolish enough to force players like that to play Ranji .

He has every right to prioritise IPL over and FC tournament

Ok then he should not be ever selected for the Test team without playing atleast 1 ranji game in the future?

Why are white ball specialists being selected for Tests in the first place? and they just walk back in the squad even if they are prioritising IPL preparations

He would have played both tests if he was selected, I felt sorry for this guy. I always thought that this guy was wronged by both Shastri and Kohli for not selecting him in 2019 world cup.

Given his loose technique against swing, they did not lose much.

Iyer played last Ranji game in 2018 and after that he played one a few weeks back.

Still was selected for test teams from Nov 2021 regularly. Although he did well initially but still this whole selection process is just so random.

Test selection is not linked with Ranji. Lobbying by IPL franchise mentors/coaches plays big role. For example SKY getting a test cap before many deserving ones.

I still don't think it is the case. Most Indian players other than Pandya have played FC cricket. They have showcased their ability in FC cricket before getting slected to test teams.Maybe they might not have played regular FC .

Even Jaiswal played Ranji trophy. So how do you think IPl teams are influencing the selections in test cricket.

Don't ask me how Pandya got selected to Indian team and became whiteball captain..
