Hats off to England 4th semi final in a row. What a domination in t20 format

Could have won 2021 edition if it wasn't World Toss Cup.

They have been the best T20 team in the world ever since Morgan revolutionized their white ball approach in 2015. They should have in all likelihood, won all the 3 WT20s played since then.

 

In 2021, they lost due to the toss jumla and in 2016, Morgan's epic blunder of not bowling Root again after he picked two wickets in one over , costed them the title. Stokes had no business bowling even a single over in that game let alone the ultimate over.

Nothing great, this is what India has done since 2014, if semi final is criteria then India have only failed in 2021 T20 WC since 2014:

2016 WT20 win was there for talking. Absolute domination till final over. Chased down 230 against SA. Smashed NZ in SF.

 

2022 was easy one, had to smash choker and minnow in SF- Final respectively.Amazing how they moved on from Roy-Hales, the pair which was looking indispensable at one point, Salt came in. Duckett is on bench. And that one guy who opening player for KKR isnt even in team who is also some player. (We are stuck with fatso and Gymboy ), Having said that, some of the players won't be playing next icc tournament (Moeen, Rashid, Bairstow -all are 35-36+).

We've to see the back of selfish players like Kohli before that happens. Other teams' stars make sacrifices to accommodate youngsters. Here the so called "King" has kicked out Jaiswal to become an opener so he can score some cheap runs in Power Play. Never seen such a selfish and shameless player who can go to any lengths to notch up personal milestones even though it hurts his own team.

It is just different perspectives of viewing things, is glass half full or half empty.

 

For all other teams this would be classed as high consistency but for India it is failure, there are clearly vastly different yardsticks to judge team India.

 

India through all their perceived shortcomings have worked incredible hard in the last 10 years in all formats to have this sort of consistency.

 

I know it is incredible frustrating coming 2nd best all the time, but rather be supporter of a Team like this than a 'once in a blue moon' type of team.

Compare this to Aussies who won 6 out of 7 tosses in that "toss off" WT20 in Dewbai. And they won the toss in 2023 WC final too. We had such a great chance in 2017 and Kohli decided to bowl first on a patta against a team which is a mental midget while chasing  Kohli's a true panauti. Couldn't win any important toss and when he did, made the wrong decision.

Actually making it to Semi finals whether it's England or India or any other team is not very tough when you think about it. There are really only about 4 or 5 real contenders in any ICC event. Rest are there just to make up the numbers. Out of these 5, at least 1 or 2 will be a no show like Kiwis in this year World T20 or England in World Cup 2023.  In fact, if you haven't made it to Semi finals stage, it means you have played very poorly

Even in Fifa WC there are only 5-6 contenders to win the title
