In a way there's a silver lining to this disaster. Nothing riles up our population and ruling babus more than losing to Pakistan. There will be more efforts spent on sports from now on

89.45 is a huge throw. So nothing to be ashamed about. First time Indians feeling sad about silver. Going by PB Nadeem was ahead of Neeraj. So this is not a surprise. We should have won 12 medals. That should be the thing we should be ashamed of. So many 4th places..

with the way the countries are structured, we will have waay wayy waay more good days than theirs.

 

pre 2021 ind used to abuse pak cricket fans. post 2021 they got some courage back. post 2023 back to status quo.

 

they had 1 guy qualify for final and win gold. that's a freak occurrence and not sustainable. this is similar to that sl woman making a silver in sydney.

 

as soon as they lose in cricket, indians will be out in full force.

Think of it this way. They send 5-6 athletes every Olympics. Arshad is a freak of nature, probably the greatest they have ever produced, does his magic.

 

He is 27, will be 31 by the time LA comes, may be tough to repeat this feat.

 

For Neeraj too it may be tough in LA. But we will have 30 athletes capable of winning medals on their day, apart from the hockey team. They will once again have all eggs in one basket. Yes we see which one is more sustainable.

It's more in Northern part of the country as majority of people have links to partition. Talk to almost any Punjabi in Delhi and they'll have a family story about partition.

 

Plus Kargil war, attack on Indian parliament, 26/11 and giving refuge to Dawood Ibrahim don't exactly endear Indians to Pakistan.
