Tillu Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 If his average goes down 50 while crossing Sachin's total run tally, he will not be remembered in the same vain as Sachin. He will be remembered as someone like Alistair Cook. That's why the flat pitches galore in England to keep his average above 50.

putrevus Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 (edited) Sachin never faced the quality of bowlers which Root has faced and Sachin never reached highs which Root had.If Root plays 200 tests he will overtake Sachin with ease. He still has 4 tests to rectify not having scoring 100.Only thing missing from his resume is 100 in Australia. Edited November 22, 2025 by putrevus Vk1, rtmohanlal, Stan AF and 4 others 7
Tillu Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 Roots average dropped from 34 to 31 in Australia. Cricket fans are now calling him Babar Azam level batsman.

No batsman has done that in their 200 FC matches in last 50 years.

Some of the greatest fast bowlers you can count Donald, ambrose, walsh, steyn, akram, McGrath, Akhtar, gillespie, pollock. Greatest spinners warne, murli. Which one of them he didn't face? Root has faced bumrah, rabada, steyn, Cummins, Hazlewood and Starc.

Root has faced and scored runs against most dominant Indian team at home. Walsh and Ambrose never played in India together, and played one series in Wi in 1997 and we know how well it went . Sachin faced one series home and away with McGrath and Warne. 2004 Sachin was injured so we can’t blame him. Sachin never toured SL after Murali became Murali till his last series. Suhaan and Vk1 2

I can do the same mental gymnastics for Root. Whats the point of him facing better Aussies attacks when he failed to score a single 100 in Australia against that better attack? How is his failure being shown as some good thing? And just because Sachin didnt face those bowlers, how does that automatically mean if had faced them, he would have done well? Your argument is full of fallacies. Root faced better attack and failed so he is better? Sachin never got to face better attack so automatically he would have failed? What logic is this? I know the only reason you want to destroy sachin is because you believe Kohli will look batter as a test player. Pro tip - he wont.

Sachin was MOTS in 1999-00 series against peak McGrath, Fleming, Brett Lee and Warne. That was at least as good an attack as Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood, Lyon, because of McWarne. Wrongly given out thrice that series. Vk1, nevada and New guy 3
Chaos Posted November 23, 2025 Posted November 23, 2025 Boland will snap him up quite a few times. Hazell, cummins, starc, boland. His avg going down to 49ish.

Why did they select V Prasad in first test when T Kumaran took a 5-fer against Queensland and Venky got tonked?
daryl1985 Posted November 23, 2025 Posted November 23, 2025 I think it is inevitable he gets the record. The Australian 100 is the more interesting milestone atm. 2 low scores in this test, next test could be tough to score runs at certain times as it is a D/N test. If England go 2-0 down with 3 to play and he has not got his century, there will be undue pressure on him. I think he will get one somewhere.

Imagine going from playing Dodda Ganesh and David Johnson in domestics to Brett Lee in Aus, no wonder our players were shell-shocked. At least now, with our pace pool and exposure to IPL, extreme pace isn't a drastic step up. rkt.india 1
