adi B Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 He is a shaky starter and most likely a FTB but that Match winning 50 in Ranchi and this 90 here showed that he has the mentality to survive and not just throw away his wkt. express bowling and rollingstoned 2

Adamant Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 He is still doing well, doesn’t look like the hype he got but had a above average year in tests. Not a problem, Gavaskar can criticise him though, India expects much more from him.
Majestic Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 He is an upgrade to KLR but still underwhelming as compared to Pant and Jaiswal. Hopefully, the next 10 tests we have, he stood up and takes his average past 40.
vvvslaxman Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 I agree with SUnil Gavaskar on this. But when Rohit sharma brainlessly hoicked and got out he was going like "He plays this shot very well. It invariably ends up in the stands. It didn't come off" something like that. He didn't say like "This was not a length he should have attempted to pull". When you are critical of stupid shots do the same for every batsman. Sgattick10, Ultimate_Game and rollingstoned 3

Gajab chutiya aadmi hai ye Budaape mein Gavaskar has stooped to @putrevus level of analysis - everyone's at fault but Kohli. Kohli's just "out of form" for the past 5-6 years but everyone else is supposed to perform to cover for this useless git's no show every time. At the moment Kohli's peak from 2014-2018 (approx. 5 years) is shorter than his "out of form" and "initially struggling years from 2010-2012, and then from 2019-2024. Essentially Kohli's "out of form" years has always been his normal standard while his peak years for a short period of time was the "out of norm" years. raki05 and vvvslaxman 1 1

He was not irresponsible like Rohit. He fixed one issue of not getting leg before by playing right under his eyes and keeping legs out of the line. But he has another issue to fix which is to make correct call on which ball to leave which ball to play. Kohli had this issue in England. HE got cleaned up twice when he tried to leave the ball. I agree. Gill has some technical issues but he has batted responsibly in this game and looked good before getting a screamer from Starc which would have dismissed any right hander int he world. Credit to Australian bowlers for being able to zoom in on his weaker spots with accurate spells. Every batsman has weaknesses but the bowlers have to be good enough to attack them. For example, Travis Head is uncomfortable against the short, fast ball on his body when he starts his innings but the Indian bowlers haven't been able to attack him on this weakness at all. Ultimate_Game Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Will Gavaskar, media and other pundits call out the real culprits Rohit and Kohli or are they only gonna call out youngsters, newbies and fringe players? Has anyone called out Kohli over the last 5 years when he has been a passenger? Or Rohit for walking into the team, destroying the balance and making the team look like a joke? raki05 1

True, the problem we cannot ignore is we have a toxic fan culture, these mofos are encouraged because of these fans, any one criticizing them will thinking twice for themselves. I don't like Gavaskar, he is loosing it by the day, and should just retire from commentary, but he was one of the few who was never afraid to call out players ignoring his Mumbai bias. What happened to Anil Kumble, Harsha Bhogle, signs were already there that things are going to get nasty, now everyone wants to be on their good books, these players are like a mafia now Edited December 8, 2024 by Teengunalagaan
lemsip Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Gavaskar is just a generic babbler these days and makes no sense. Just listen to that analysis - classic case of reluctance to offer any criticism whatsoever. No concern about the great ROKO. They have lots of experience. No fault of theirs India keep getting low totals, Australia produced unplayable deliveries. We just have to say well done to the Aussie bowlers. Rohit was right to play at 6 because of the 200 opening partnership in the previous match but now he must open because that's his normal position ( I have no idea how this makes any logical sense) The real mujrim is the 22 year old Harshit Rana who didn't bowl well. So mollycoddle seniors and criticise the youngsters. As a symptom of the disease the anchor asking the questions is also reluctant to challenge Gavaska when his points make no logical sense. When this is the level of expert coverage, is it surprising we have the cricket culture we do ? https://youtu.be/IgkWVoNOHBU Ultimate_Game and express bowling 1 1
