Vaibhav Suryavanshi another Naseem Shah

Vaibhav Suryavanshi the talented tennis picked in the IPl,no doubt he seems to be talented and has a bright future ahead but when it comes to age fudging seems to be another Naseem Shah.

Saw a clip online posted a year back in which he claims he is turning 14 soon and now a year later he is back to being 13. BCCI of late has been pretty strict with age fudgers, let's see how this turns out.

Shubman Gill was born on 8 September 1999.

His sister on 16 December 1999.

Age fudging is more common than you think. And it's not as easy to prove.

So Gill is older? and why do players do it?

To play age group cricket. It's highly prevalent here in Uttarakhand too. 16-17 year olds will be playing u14 by, 18-19 year olds play u16.  It becomes very difficult for actual age players to compete with age fudgers.

Wow. Good catch. I thought Gill was one of those whose age was accurate.

Or maybe it's the sister who has her age fudged ?

Why would she fudge her age?

Manjot Kalra was banned from cricket despite doing well in U19 WC.

Hope this is nipped in the bud too.

Spot on, plus there should be less emphasis on that under 19 world cup also. So many talented fast bowlers have been ruined due to that under 19 world cup.

They feel they have arrived and are not working on their game.Unmukt Chand another example.

Doesn't matter if it's 1 year or 5 years, this needs to be dealt with no matter how talented you are. It deprives someone else from an opportunity, which should legitimately belong to them.

This should be unacceptable period. We don't know how many kids have a serious impact on their career because of this, it's no different than nepotism, you are taking a away a place that belongs to someone else.

Looks like an age fudger. Not as blatant as Naseem Shah or Rashid Khan where the age is off 5 years or so but he (actually his dad) looks to have fudged his age by couple of years.

BCCI has to clamp down on it and make an example. Probably that's the reason we see u-19 team winning time and again and we go trophy-less for a decade at senior level.

If he's found to be lying about his age, he should be kicked out from IPL for an year or two. They banned Jadeja for an year for a much minor violation so this guy should be kicked out for some time as well.

He will do a Rashid Khan and post how happy he was when Thala won the worldcup the day he was born 2024-2011 =13 age fits :) @velu

I think he is 15 though but still not as blatant as some of the Afghani players. I remember in one of the U-19 wc the players official age was 17 and he looked like he took 4 wives and has 16 kids.

having said that an example has to be made for age-fudgers.

It should be changed to an under 23 world cup to remove age fudging advantage and for smoother transition of good performers to the senior team or the IPL. Barring rare exceptions, under 19 cricketers are still in developing stage.

This guy should be banned if caught age fudging. Puts our system at shame

Bcci had already tested him at 8-9 years of age according to his father.
