Arshdeep and kuldeep for tests

Arshdeep is the perfect bowler for pink ball and the tests in Australia. Australians struggle against swing. None of the current Indian bowlers are swinging the ball. Even bumrah is more reliant on movement of the pitch. Kuldeep was great in Australia as well I remember he got a 5 fer. Did we miss a trick by not including them ? Current Indian bowling seems one dimensional.

THis is an obvious missing ingredient. Back in the 2000s we had plethora of swing bowlers. On the eve of Gabba test cricinfo has shared an interview with Thakur and Pujara. Thakur has shared some interesting info about how he utilized the swing.  If you go back to a decade or two back.  We have seen Praveen kumar troubling Australia in the ODI finals. Irfan pathan, RP singh, zaheer , Ishant all had success due to swing.  Wonder we never backed a swing bowler for SENA. It is a weakness for all. Thakur definitely filled that gap adequately. We need to get Reddy to hone his swing bowling.

I tried releasing one ball wide of the crease, with the aim of swinging it away, because he was leaving the ball quite a lot. That worked and Rohit [Sharma] took a brilliant catch at second slip. In my next over I got Pat Cummins too.

Have always been a advocate of Arshdeep in tests, wish to see him with red ball soon. Kuldeep in overseas tests is a better option than Ashwin/ Jadeja.

Our reserves were mediocre...only swing bowler who was potent initially was Bhuvi and his body and pace just gave up after the 2014 tour to England. Vinay Kumar & Mithun were mediocre.
In response Shami, Umesh, Ishant, Bumrah were fitter and can bowl long spells without dropping much pace (Shami was initially but he took off from 2016). Our selectors anyway aren't known for looking new bowlers once they find a settled group.

bhuvi was good in bursts. 2016 won a match in wi. won 2nd test vs nz. was great vs sa 3rd test. missed him in 2018.

I don't know about arshdeep but we badly need a left hander in the bowling attack. It's too one- dimensional.

I believe Bhuvi could have helped us win the 2018 Eng series. He was inform back then, had done very well on SA tour just months prior.  We lost a couple of very close games that series, his lower order batting too would have helped in those matches.

We take 3 spinners to oversea tours, i mean it would be better to take more fast bowlers of different type.

Arshdeep in England/New Zealand/SA can be lethal if gets right sort of conditions.

lol seriously what is this Arshdeep fascination in test cricket? He just doesn’t have that stamina or skill to bowl at any decent pace for sustained periods of time. 

It works for him in T20s (so far) as he’s not an idiot and has got some brains. Plus 4 overs are small enough for him to somewhat bowl at a respectable pace. 

Problem is these moronic selectors and the captain dint create any backups.

Yes, over there I agree. If there’s assistance on the pitch in terms of movement, he will be useful.

Arshdeep should be in squad instead of wasted spot of so called spinners. He doesnt have to play all the matches. HE can be your 4th pacer.
