By that logic, focus shifts from Kohli's 5+ years of failures to bowlers who have been delivering consistently and failed just a few matches recently

He will get 2 to 3 demerit points and a fine. At most he'll get enough points to miss a single ODI or T20 international under the current penalty system.

 

Australia would prefer that he stay in the test team - banning him from the Sydney test would advantage the wrong team.

Spot on. It's embarrassing even for his die hard fans to defend this. The moron has not grown up and continues to degrade both as a person and a player while being supported by his toxic fanbase who are probably cut from the same cloth. And you are correct. This is nothing to do with bad bowling which has been on display since NZ whitewash at home. While the poor performance on field is nothing to be proud of, it is actually a far bigger issue when players who are ambassadors of the country and put in a pedestal by a section of the fanbase behave in such atrocious manner without any provocation.

 

One such bad press will eventually reach a tipping point and those 100 crore endorsements will vanish within days. At this point it's genuinely better for the country that he is settling down in London than in India.

Lo and behold, his fan army and PR bots have ran thousands of edits on his "sigma attitude" and "egg-ration against Aussies in Australia" re. this incident..
