SRikkanth himself was dropped both as a player and captain directly from the side even after drawing test series in Pakistan.

There were some off field issues too then, iirc. Like payment disputes or something?

Bumrah as captain will make sense ONLY if we had bowlers like Starc/Boland/Hazlewood to share the workload effectively and reduce Bumrah's burden. Do we really want Bumrah to play each and every test match? Of course not..So who'll be the captain then? Is the team ready to have two different captains?

Yes, he spoke up for better remuneration for the cricketers. People in authority obviously didn't like it and kicked him out of the team itself, making Azhar captain.

So Bcci had always been a chewt.

He averaged 13 with the bat in that series on absolute roads. He was finished.

But we don't make such calls these days.  Kapil and Gavaskar exchanged captaincy atleast 2 times in the  early 80s despite Kapil winning world cup. There were consequences for losing series. Consequences for lean patches unlike now. 5 year lean patch would have never happened int hat era.

I would disagree with that at least for Kapil.

Last 31 Tests , Kapil had a bowling strike rate of 84 or something.  That was a 4.5 year period . He was finished and he just kept carrying on to break Hadlee's record.

Ideally Rohit should be stripped of the captaincy, and both Rohit and Kohli should be kicked out of the team. But we all know BCCI is a political organization and selectors are absolutely useless and gutless.

Now wait for the same shyte show in CT as well, and till the time these two parasites continue to linger on.

they will play till 2027 ODI WC and 2027 WTC

He didn't play for 5 years. He had a good series in Australia 25 wickets.  After that just 16 tests he played.  But in South africa he made that breathtaking 129 when India 31/5 on a spicy pitch.  Averaged 40 in that series with bat. Bowling regression already noticed by others in ODIs. That simmons shot was the sign. But in terms of years may be high. But we only played 10  or 12 tests after his regression. Not like 30-40 tests. Besides Kapil's replacements were just comign through. They were not fully ready for prime time. India played a lot of home games on dug up pitches unleashing Kumble. So Kapil's services were not needed.

INdia in Australia 1992

India in ZImbabwe  2 wickets & 60 runs

EEngland in India   7 wickets & 101 runs . He was not needed because Kumble and other random spinners did the job on those pitches

Zimbabwe in India  inconsequential match

India in Srilanka  62 runs & 5 wickets  31 avge with bat and ball

SL in India  99 runs & 7 wickets  25 avge with ball

India in NZ - he quit.

Yes Kapil was shadow of himself. But he didn't drop to this level

Same person didn’t have guts to drop MSD after 8-0 trashing as chief selector :hysterical:

I don't think Srikkanth was the selector. His tenure ended in 2012. INdia was not doing terribly at that time. Infact they had issue ag ainst DHoni for including PIyush in world cup 2011. Sandip patil took over selection in 2013.

This is what happened Cheeka's tenure as selector. He was pressurized to quit after ENgland series loss. Much bigger failures happened after that. Nothing happened. Look at Home series white wash.  Did anyone get impacted?

Krishnamachari Srikkanth, a former Indian cricketer, was the Chief Selector of the Indian cricket team from 2008 to 2011:

  • Appointment
Srikkanth was appointed as the Chief Selector in 2008, succeeding Dilip Vengsarkar.

  • Selection committee
The selection committee led by Srikkanth chose the Indian team that won the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

  • Tenure
Srikkanth's tenure included India's rise to the top of the Test rankings.

  • Pressure to quit
Srikkanth was under pressure to quit after India's loss to England in a Test series.

  • Other roles
Srikkanth has also worked as a cricket analyst, IPL franchise ambassador, and member of the All India Council of Sports.

Yes. We did discuss here about that.  TINA factor  was the reason why MSD was persisted as it happened during transition. ALmost all seniors left. We were left with Gambhir who himself was not consistent.
