India captain Rohit Sharma initially planned to retire after the fourth Test against Australia, but external influences led him to reconsider. Rohit, who did not feature in the fifth and final Test in Sydney, managed 31 runs in 5 innings Down Under.

"Rohit had made up his mind after MCG. Had his well wishers from the outside didn't force him to change his mind, we could have well seen another retirement in Australia," said a source aware of developments.

I find this entire saga absurd.

Frankly, if you take a step back and look at Ashwin retirement in its totality, then he also acted like a prima donna. Sure pre series he would have been given assurance that he will play but he didnt get a game so he felt humiliated (per his father) and quit mid tour. Lets go back to SL series when he was just starting. Bhaji had a bad 1st test we lost the game and Bhaji was dropped while Ashwin continued to playing XI. We won that series 2-1 and bhaji had played his last test. Bhaji didnt retire mid series or his someone from his family didnt comeout and say Bhaji was humiliated.

Ashwin, Bhaji, Rohit, Virat, Jaddu all have contributed towards making Indian cricket what it is today however when its time to make way please make way. Didnt ganguly, Sachin, VVS, Rahul made way for likes of Rohit and Virat.

No ganguly, Sachin, VVS, Rahul made way for likes of Rohit and Virat dint make the way, sachin was told to announce the retirement else they will pick the team without him,

ganguly was dropped and then made a comeback he too was not ready to retire, VVS was also bitter about his retirement, think he called dhoni and he dhoni didnt pick the call.

All Ind superstars takes 3/4 years extra to retire, they do not retire till they are forced to and considered dead weight in the side.

Source for sachin was told? Ganguly, vvs, Rahul all were given less than a year. Sachin played for a year and few months after losing form.

Sachin had enough clout to remain in the team of he wanted

How can you even compare with likes of those hanging for 5+ years?

Ashwin is from south india. South Indians have always been treated differently, kumble, karun nair, list goes on. They will never be captains, and will get the least ropes, it's worse today than ever

Among north Indians, Mumbains get the most bias and rope.

And now involve active politics and you will understand why Rohit is untouchable.

Mumbaikars and MH can't be treated as North Indians.

Latitude wise it's even lower than Adilabad, which is a city in South Indian State (i.e. Telangana).

Biases in India exists irrespective of regions, some are quota driven some are connection driven.
