In olden times princes and young kings used to have a whipping boy. Those of royal blood couldn't be touched so when the royal boys made a mistake or did something bad, the whipping boy would get beaten up as examples for the royal boys. 

 

So all these assistant coaches etc are for the same thing, our royal guys can do whatever they want and these are the scapegoats who will be punished and fired to cover up for them.
