Bledy felos can do whatever they want against other teams, who cares. But always their talent, spotted by you, shines mainly against India :-( maniac 1

Gollum Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 This is a golden era for keepers. Jamie Smith is going to be England's greatest ever at this role.....Prior was damn good in the Strauss era, but this guy is a different beast, did well even against Pooks on rank turners. Him vs Aussie quartet with older ball in Ashes will be interesting. Probably series defining. raki05 1

Watched his batting, hardly seems to be taking lot of risks even when striking at 120 in tests. nevada and Gollum 2
Nikhil_cric Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 Great FTB. Most English batsmen are. Jury is still out on whether he has the skill for tougher pitches Lord, Frustrated and cricspirit 3

Good eye test yes he reeks talent. I rate him above Brook. He can be the next Joe Root for them. He will take forward the Cook, Root legacy forward. prudent_kreeda 1

vvvslaxman Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 As good as he is he may be trapped by Australia on those big grounds

Adelaide has short square boundary and then Sydney isn't that huge too. Except Perth and MCG all are normal sized grounds.

There will be some tactics revolving around short ball as pulls compulsively. Also he has this low base which can be tricky when the ball is moving a high pace. Metronomic bowlers like Boland, Hazlewood can easily exploit
Frustrated Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 (edited) It is quite easy to boost your bat avg while playing on home pitches against a mediocre bowling lineup. Only time will tell how premium he turns out to be. In the recently held CT, he never lasted more than 10 balls in any of the matches despite having lot of overs left (and despite the flat pattas). Eng won 0 out of 3 matches in CT. Edited July 12, 2025 by Frustrated
Number Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Conditions so far in this series have been very batting friendly. Aussies will not give these guys even a single batting friendly surface. Lord 1

In swinging conditions every one gets out early and team scores below 200. It does not just apply to J.Smith alone. Definitely not a bazball hack. Edited July 13, 2025 by prudent_kreeda maniac 1
