Congress spokesperson Dr Shama Mohamed deleted her post calling Indian captain Rohit Sharma “fat" and “unimpressive" following massive backlash. In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), she said, “Rohit Sharma is fat for a sportsman! Need to lose weight! And of course the most unimpressive Captain India has ever had!"

Despite the outrage, Mohamed doubled down on her criticism, defending her stance by comparing Rohit to past Indian captains. She questioned his decision-making, stating, “Didn’t he move KL Rahul to bat at number 3 at the MCG Test & put himself at number 1 which backfired totally! Wasn’t that a selfish move? Because of that, Shubam Gill was out of the XI."

“Didn’t we lose the last World Cup which took place in Ahmedabad? I have compared him to our previous captains," the Congress spokesperson went on to say.

Even as her remarks sparked a heated debate, Mohamed continued her attack, calling Rohit a “mediocre player" and a “mediocre captain". In another post, she argued, “What is so world class about him when compared to his predecessors like Ganguly, Tendulkar, Dravid, Dhoni, Kohli, Kapil Dev, Shastri and the rest! He is a mediocre captain as well as a mediocre player who got lucky to be the Captain of India."

The remark has also drawn a sharp retort from the ruling BJP, which asked if the Congress now expects Rahul Gandhi to play cricket. "Shame on Congress! Now they are going after the Indian Cricket Captain! Do they expect Rahul Gandhi to now play cricket after failing in Indian politics," BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said in reply to the Congress leader's post. Speaking to NDTV, Mr Bhandari said the Congress spokesperson's remark reflects the party's Emergency mindset. "It's an insult to every patriot who supports the Indian cricket team through thick and thin. I question the Congress's criticism," he said.

How is calling a player fat insult to every patriot

Half the folks in my gym are orders of magnitude fitter than him. Is that why he joined politics ? To show physical fitness ? What is his track record as leader ( captain ) of his party ? lol…. Nice try

try better…. Unfortunately nothing will matter.

As much as I don't like body shaming and all that, I just don't understand how Rohit is unable to lose weight. He has the most sought after and enviable career and job title in the country and still not able to put in a few hard yards to stay fit? Not even asking for abs and such, just don't have a huge belly, how hard is that for a multi millionaire athlete? All this humiliation he faces in social media is completely self inflicted

Yes this is the right place to bring it up.. if you have brains.

She is questioning a highly successful cricketers fitness and mocking his achievements…… it is deeply ironic because her master Pappu got a legacy on a platter and destroyed it royally…. Finito.

Abb leadership performance and outcomes ko chhod ke fitness, abs and grip strength ki comparison ho rahi hai …

heights of being deluded and living in denial.
