Some former army guy said during zia ul haq time, he had allowed recruitment of madarsa educated in army directly and they were highly radicalized and munir comes from that background. It was zia ul haq who had started sending terrorists in Kashmir to brainwash local Kashmiris. Teengunalagaan 1

Many people genuinely believe they’ve won every war, and they often mock Indians as nothing more than weak vegetarians. But honestly, I think a very similar narrative exists across the border as well. When I see the kind of rhetoric some Indian media outlets are promoting, it becomes clear to me that irrational voices are not limited to one side. There are extreme and misinformed individuals on both sides of the border. I used to believe that modern media and especially social media would help people become more informed and thoughtful. But I was wrong. Instead of spreading awareness, these platforms have ended up fueling misinformation and hatred. Teengunalagaan and coffee_rules 1 1

It was zia ul haq who had started sending terrorists in Kashmir to brainwash local Kashmiris. Yes, this is a common narrative among secular and liberal voices in Pakistan, and it’s true that during Zia-ul-Haq’s time, policies like direct recruitment of madrassa graduates into the army did contribute to the rise of radicalization. And yes, sending fighters into Kashmir to influence the local population also began during that era. But it’s important to understand that what we see today as radical Islamism is not something that started and ended with Zia. This is a global movement that has taken root in many Muslim countries, not just Pakistan. There are several reasons behind this shift. First, the rise of Wahhabism in Saudi Arabia played a massive role. Backed by oil wealth and the religious influence that comes with hosting the Hajj, Saudi Arabia had both the money and the religious clout to export a strict and conservative version of Islam far and wide. Second, the creation of Israel and the repeated defeats of Muslim countries in conflicts against it created a deep psychological wound in many Muslim societies. This humiliation made many turn toward more radical ideologies as a form of resistance. Iran’s Islamic Revolution, in many ways, was a direct response to both Western interference and regional defeat. Third, the Soviet-Afghan War was a turning point. The global encouragement and funding of jihad against the Soviets, with Pakistan as a frontline state, brought in not only weapons and fighters but also an ideology that deeply reshaped the region. Pakistan, in particular, absorbed much of that impact. So while Zia-ul-Haq accelerated the radicalisation process, even without him, the direction was already set. Too many regional and global factors were at play for it to have been avoided entirely.
