His technique has not improved, Bumrah bowled him with another inswinger which is known to be his weakness.

 

His away average is horrible and he has not shown any captaincy traits, ipl captaincy won’t help in test cricket where you need kore authority and experience.

Gill himself is not good enough for Tests. Leading a test match requires a lot of mental strength where you have to go through various passages of play. Too bad we have not seen Jaiswal leading any side at any level. Hope he redeems himself as a test batsman overseas.

no surprise. in the bgt series gill was repeatedly going up to the bowler to give encouragement. he wasn't even vc. it looked very wierd.

And Pant although a no-brainer pick for tests, is kinda **** in T20I and even ODIs.  Indian selectors don't like format-specific captaincy that much.

With Kohli going out, I assume Gill will take no.4 position with KLR-Jaiswal opening and Sudarshan at 3. Let's see how he does at 4.

Anyways time to back him, his captaincy looks much better than Pant for sure
