We may win 1 test match but overall it will be 1-4. Just like 2014 series. It was young and new team for first time in England in 2014, same in 2025. We would lose 0-5 with Ro-Ko this time so great that they are not there.

Prospect of Gill leading the side and taking the hallowed #4 spot, which belonged to stalwarts like Hazare/Viswanath/Vengsarkar/Sachin/Kohli excites anyone here?

 

Logically we should lose, may be closely fought and end result may flatter Poms but don't see us beating them multiple times in batting shootout which will be the case on their bazball pitches and absence of Broad-Anderson, our inexperienced pace attack. 

 

Bumrah vs Root may be the iconic battle of this decade. Root scored almost 800 runs in the 2021-22 series and was the difference between a series draw and us winning 4 matches. But think he isn't as dominant now and Bumrah has gone from strength to strength. That should be the main draw of this series, hope we get something magical like Sachin vs Steyn, 2011 Cape Town. Followed by Jaiswal (who is probably the most talked about young foreign cricketer in English media), occasional Pant brilliance, and their bazballers (Crawley, Duckett, Brook especially).

Jaiswal, Pant, Jadeja, Bumrah are the only safe bets. 

 

Hope someone else from our side has good surprises in store.

 

Not much expectation from Gill.

 

But maybe something from at least one of the Karnataka trio? KL usually starts with a bang and then fades away, hope this KL 5.0 can overcome that mental barrier. Karun Nair's redemption arc against his favorite opponent, or Prasidh settling in as a reliable partner for Bumrah, one can wish.

 

Maybe Kuldeep does a 2005 Warne in one test. May be one last cornered tiger fight from Thakur.

Best we can hope for is limiting Root to under 450 runs this series. But even that won't be enough, would have been good to give us a crushing series win in 2021-22 when he was a one man army (except '22 when Bairstow was in the form of his life). But now Poms have 4-5 other reliable bats, I have a bad feeling about Brook, their new wk, and one of the openers. Maybe even Pope.

Neeraj Chopra has been awesome and his performance is outstanding. India is very good at chess too. Atleast in those games we get to see real value for time spending watching the matches.

 

Imagine Indian test batsmen averaging 35 and wasting hours and hours watching a test match. No time for rubbish. What will be worth watching is high performer Jasprit Bumrah's spells and  Yashasvi Jaiswal's highly skilled test batsmanship.

 

The T20i team is good. Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, SKY and others play what the format needs. It wortj watchinh them bat and perform very well more often than free hit.eu. The T20i team is more of a merit based selection than the test.

Maybe they are giving chance to youngsters to showcase and polish their skills, because the senior players are set to retire from the longer format, so now the young blood have to take the responsibility for which they are preparing them for the next WTC cycle! We hope that this new era will be as good as previous ones. We do love watching senior players playing but now its the youngsters who needs to take over which is why i guess they selected the test team with lower experience batters.

Poms are way fitter than us to last a 5 day test. These guys will wilt after 3 days.  Gone are the days when Shami used to bowl at 140k late in the evening of day 4. If power, strength is your friend in T20 you need endurance, stamina in Tests. Then there is mental fatigue of facing 2 wickeltess sessions.  I am not sure this unit is mentally ready for 5 day tests. If it becomes overly bowler friendly and becomes a lottery then there is a chance.

Gill returns with avg of 10 and he won't survive 3 more months. He returns with avg of 50 with 2 100s and a drawn series then he deserves to be the poster boy

Indian fans are smart. You need to perform before you get unconditional support like Dhoni, Rohit and Virat get.

With bazball England innings won't last long even if they score a lot. I don't think they'll reach 100 overs more than once in the whole series

They have doled out ranji trophy like highways which should have been boring but the race between bazball and our team is turning it to be an interesting series. After the third test, I am expecting Siraj Bumrah to be rested.. it will be interesting who will they select for fourth.
