Gill is a poor captaincy choice. He has shown himself to reek of jealousy the way he has interacted with Suryavanshi, Pant (after the last match which GT lost) and generally whenever he loses or an opponent (even an Indian youngster) is doing well. He's petty and more concerned about himself than the team. We all saw that when he demoted Abhishek playing his debut series right after Abhishek scored a 100 in his 2nd match. Gill came in as opener the very next game pushing Abhishek down the order.

Someone like Shreyas Iyer would've been a much better choice as he has shown he can build a team, shows up in big games or big moments, and has shown improvement. Surely Iyer can average 35 as well in Tests just like Gill. A poor choice of captain and BCCI as usual taking one step forward and two backwards.

Let's back him for now.

We may win but his contribution will be nil. Tailenderesque stats overseas.

Not sure how come he suddenly trumped all the actual performers in teat cricket to become test captain… Even jaddu commands more authority than Gill just based on performance. Bumrah actually deserved or even Jaiswal than this lullu..He is project bcci selection and now he will be automatic pick in t20 as well and will do politics to keep abhishek out.

He will surely be back in t20s but this paindu has nothing to command

Gambhir ,which i believe has a clear cut mindset for t20s

Abhishek is a vital cog there,he will surely try to fit in Arya,Prabha, Suryavanshi in two years time in this format, paindu needs complete domination over bowling in PP overs to stake undisputed claim

Let's give him a chance before getting the knives out.

Jaiswal should just be free to focus on his batting .

Maybe the additional responsibility of captaincy will make him improve his red ball game.

There are no ideal options.

Agree,

I understand Gill has some serious flaws in his technique, but players improve gradually.

Jaiswal is our best batter and probably ideal choice for many, but apart from him and Bumrah we dont have many options.

I am hoping Gill despite his limitations can became what Greame Smith did for South Africa. Absence of Kohli & Rohit means there is no authority over him to feel pressurized, plus Bumrah will support him to take care of bowling.

This is exactly what I'm hoping for too.  Our Test cricket is in serious trouble after the thrashings in the last couple of series.

Got to build it back up from scratch.

Nither a capable player nor a capable leader for tests, specially overseas.

Looks likes coach gambhir will call all the shots from now on.

yes thats exactly. GG gets unlimited power despite shitting the bed twice and gets to drop Iyer for personal revenge
