Sooda Posted July 2 Posted July 2 (edited) Bumrah out, why being one down and after 7 days break Sai dropped, he looks like a good test prospect and dropped after a composed knock last innings Means Nair at 3 ?! After batting at 6 3 "all rounders"... So called ARs...two of them could and should have sat out - for a specialist bowler and batter each- Kuldeep and Sai in for NKR and Jadeja IMHO Its the same mistake they made in Australia when they went with bits and pieces in the name of batting depth Edited July 2 by Sooda nitinbwj and BacktoCricaddict 1 1
Sandz Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Yeah, England is only going to provide bazzball pitches where they will just out bat India each time, they needed 4 proper bowlers to have any chance. express bowling and nitinbwj 1 1
Number Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Need a serious test cricketer to run the redball team. Gambhir is good for IPL.
rkt.india Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Too obsessed with bits and pieces players. putrevus, Austin 3:!6 and nitinbwj 2 1

kosingh Posted July 2 Posted July 2 The Kuldeep thing is particularly odd to me...has not been a favorite of either Kohli or Gill. I understand you want your spin bowlers to be able to bat. But you also want your spin bowlers to be able to bowl... BacktoCricaddict 1
putrevus Posted July 2 Posted July 2 This is what happens when you give power to idiots based on some jingostic comments. t20 is not test cricket. Lord 1
singhvivek141 Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Bumrah's decision was baffling. I am a fan of his but this is something I cant digest. Yeah, I understand that you need to manage your workload...but there was sufficient time to rest. I expected him to atleast be part of 4 matches...but this is not good. Anyway, this is what happens when you pin your hopes on few players. We failed to groom a single pacer despite knowing Shami is getting old. From 2021-22 onwards since we let go of Ishant & Umesh...we have been playing jokers like Mukesh, Avesh, Khaleel, Unadkut. We should have continued to play Harshit instead of ditching him after one poor test. Siraj who has been mediocre for 35+ games is still a sure shot selection just because he has experience. If a bowler shows no signs of improvement after 20 games, then he isnt going to improve ever. putrevus and express bowling 2
putrevus Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I really hope they win this test to show this team is not dependent on one player. AuxiliA 1

vvvslaxman Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Karun Nair is there mainly because he held on to two slip catches i think. Otherwise no real upgrade. Sai himself can roll his arm over.

England is a seasoned team who have been playing together for a while. They will roll out flat wickets. Same England looked clueless against pakistan uncle spinners once the ball starts turning. THey won the toss too both times. India dropped catches. Pretty much every single thing went in their favor. India had two massive collapses. If you look purely in terms time India dominated more than England in the test. But the in the short period that England dominated they caused exctensive damage. That is the difference

goose Posted July 2 Posted July 2 one I’d love to see a team pick 11 batsmen just to see what happens. if you want to lengthen the batting go the whole hog and target 700 Lord 1

Who were the tear away quicks, or even genuine test quality pacers, that were being ignored whilst those guys were getting chances? Lord 1

More than the time gap between the 1st and 2nd Tests, I think his decision would be based on the fact that there is barely any time between the 2nd test and 3rd test. Given that the next Test is more "high profile" given that it is in Lord's, he probably chose to play that. Similarly, he'll only play one test between the 4th and 5th.

Why is next Test more high profile. We'll be 0-2 down
