That is the problem. There was no need to make any announcements
 

plus having interest and body not being able to handle also poses a problem for captain and TM.

Which bowler from both sides are fit for 5 matches? Stokes might miss last test. Even their spinner was injured.

Stokes will play. Carse has also played all 4 without trundling

But stokes is now injured. Carse was ineffective in this test. Even archer was bowling 83 mph on day 5.

Archer was bowling much slower in this test and became slower with every passing day.

Akashdeep can be that workhorse India is looking for if he can sort out his fitness. He got injured in both away tours ( Aus, Eng).

 

Now, since he has won India a test hopefully he can work on this shortcoming and become a regular member of the attack.

 

A fit & firing trio of Boom, Siraj & Akashdeep can win the short 2 match test series vs NZ away next year.

Archer, Woakes and Carse will be replaced by Tongue, Atkinson and Overton.

I don't think Archer can cope with another test so soon and 36 year old Woakes and Carse have played 4 tests each already.

If England don't replace those 3, India's chances go up particularly if England have to bowl first again shortly after another 150 over slog  yesterday with no recovery time in between.

 

A few weeks ago 800 was scored on the Oval pitch with a treble century for strokeless wonder Sibley so the Indian bowlers could also come in for a lot of tap again.

To go for a win, India too need fresh legs and more wicket taking options than in Manchester. Bumrah, Siraj, Shardul and Kamboj should be replaced by Prasidh, Akashdeep, Arshdeep and Kuldeep. If one of those is not fit then someone like Rana if he can get here in time. Siraj will probably insist he can play his 5th in a row but he looked tired and it's better to roll the dice with a someone fresh. Jurel instead of Pant would be fine ..may miss the pyrotechnics but the batting should continue to be solid.

I think 5 Matches are put in by the ecb as inevitably there will be rain and of 25 days you will get 18 days with rest lost to bad light etc

 

 

But this time you have had 20 days cricket thus far due to flat decks and no rain of note.

I don't think so. Archer has bowled 89 overs in the last 2 tests.The last time he was bowled this much by a captain he picked up serious injuries and was out of cricket for 4 years. He has only just returned after that. There is a lot of media scrutiny here about getting him and Mark Wood ready for the Ashes which starts in November. With no recovery period after another 150 overs in the field on Sunday, they could bowl Archer into the ground again. He has a high chance of picking up another longer term injury and missing the Ashes tour if he plays at the Oval. That's why I don't think they will take the risk

Siraj is but i also think no bowler should have played 5 in a row.  

 

Siraj should have been managed/rotated at some point.   

 

In recent years, i think his dips in form have been partly due to him playing too much cricket.

Harry Brook at the presentation said how Siraj kept his pace up in the mid 80s most of the series. So even the opposition agrees that he is built for 5 test matches. He bowled his heart out when Bumrah was absent. 

 

I was disappointed that Deep showed great promise in the 2nd test and then faded away. Bad line and length this test. India need a better bowling coach than Morkel.

I think India in general should stay away from 5 test series, as captivating as this was. We want everyone at 100% through the series as much as possible 

 

More than this though, the turnaround between matches was insane, all in the name of money to fit The Hundred in

Bumrah bowled 153 overs in 2021 series in the 4 tests he played.

Siraj bowled 148 overs in the first 4 tests here

 

Bumrah post injury usually takes a while. He did take some time after last injury. We should back him instead of using his own team mate to run him down. THat is nonsense and obnoxious.
