You are calling it a road because Root and Bairstow took it home with 7 wkts standing. The scores were 416, 284, 245 and 378/3. Total 1323. Scores in this test were 224, 247, 396, 367. Total 1234. Scores are comparable. If Brooks and Root took it home at the Oval ... would that make this a road? No. Edited August 8, 2025 by AKane

You are building a narrative based on score card. Pitch was easy to bat on. Only pant did well in both innings.

Others who are criticizing are doing it intentionally with some ulterior motive and for them somehow Bumrah is beyond every criticism . Gavaskar was wrong to use jawan comparision.Fact remains Bumrah has come up small again and again in important matches. I don't see anything wrong in pointing it out. Read my post again. No one is asking them not to criticize Bumrah's performance. I am just saying don't talk about things you don't know about and don't get personal. People who are on the outside don't know about his fitness etc, so keeping on talking about it does not make any sense. If Gavaskar, Pathan etc actually talk about his bowling and how he was underwhelming according to them, then no one will have any problems. Pathan himself was a mediocre Test cricketer who hid behind his batting after a decent start to his bowling career. He played with injuries and did not manage himself well which caused his early exit from the format. He is one to talk about workload management. We lost so many bowlers in the past due to that. Siraj can bowl 185 overs does not mean Bumrah can too. Actually Siraj broke Bumrah's record of most overs in a series which was 180+ as well. So it is not like Bumrah hasn't done it in the past. He just played a full 5 Test series in Australia and broke down. India not winning the games is not his fault.

Different matter when other bowlers are actually stepping up in his absence and the results are better. Even if he's performing well but the results are worse, then he is proving to be a net negative only. If the preferential treatment given to him is affecting other's performance, then it is correct to ask questions. We drew this series by winning games he skipped/rested. CT was also won without him. In nearly a decade worth of ICC tournaments, Bumrah has stepped up in the clutch maybe once or twice max. It is definitely something to look further into. It has been explained a million times that most of that win % without Bumrah is because most of them were AT HOME where we were ALWAYS dominating Will you guys stop parroting this brain dead stats without context now? How many times does this stupidity needs to be pointed out? And as I said, Ponting succeeded in one single ICC tournament but Australian fans are not ehsan farmosh like some indians and praise him How many players in cricket history have done well in multiple tournaments? Have some shame dude, twisting stats intentionally to attack one of our biggest star is not just stupid, its insidious and every single one of you should be shamed This is the perfect example of Indian crab mentality, where Indians themselves pull down their own, which is why we never progress together as a nation You will never ever see citizens and fans of any other country do this to their own and spend so much time hating their own. Its unique to Indians and our curse P.S. Nice to see all the pretense of just being a "devil's advocate" went out of the window and the true face has been exposed. No one was fooled in the first place. Every single one of you should be named and shamed, no enemy can ever harm us like our own do. Edited August 9, 2025 by New guy singhvivek141 1

AuxiliA Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 Siraj is like Mahindra Scorpio. Bumrah is like a Bugatti. Both are good in their own ways. zen Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 It is best to avoid giving weightage to social media comments. Now we know what type of people (including paid ones) spend time on it. The positive is that more people use social media to sprout garbage, the more power social media would begin to lose where eventually people will shrug it off as - oh that’s SM. nevada, Chakdephatte and GoldenSun 2 1
nevada Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 Instead of being happy about the other fast bowlers stepping up in Bumrah's absence, all these former cricketers are bashing him! His absence is actually prepping the team for life without him, and that's a positive. No player, however great he may be, is indispensable and life must go on regardless of his presence or absence. Like the greedy guy who cut the duck open, these critics want to bowl him into the ground and finish off his career. I will gladly have him for 3 out of 5 tests than not have him at all! zen, express bowling and singhvivek141 3

Post the data that proves we have a better win percentage in SENA with Bumrah in the team than without him. Bumrah's debut can be the cut-off. I am not interested in emotional ranting and venting. Post data and disprove the propagandists and agenda peddlers. If you can't back your claims with data, just admit it. VT87 1

This thread is specifically about the narrative of how him being in the team is hurting other bowlers performance. So unless you too subscribe to that theory, you might wnat to word your comments differently? I'm not against pointing out Bumrah's actual failures. He choked royally in the first WTC final. His tour to Nz was a disaster. In general he has never been good against Nz. He didn't live up his reputation in 2019 wc and 2021 wt20. All of these are valid criticisms that has been discussed multiple times. But saying that India won 2 tests because Bumrah wasn't there or Siraj failed in three tests because he's sharing the ball with Bumrah is a stupid narrative. You replied to my post, I was just replying to it.

Chakdephatte Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 What happened in the Kapil Dev era was wrong. Bolwers used to be used like donkeys, bowling with 10% of their capacity. Sometimes even even injured. So could tell it by watching old videos that they were unable to put full effort. Rondu 1
