KV244 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 What will happen if India will get Fast Bowling Allrounder like Kallis ?
Majestic Posted October 22 Posted October 22 It will be great but challenge is that managing a fast bowling all rounder is pretty tough in today’s world of cricket. Fitness and workload concerns have been quite common and that is what have stopped the likes of Pandya to be an all format cricketer. Right now, if we continue playing Reddy in all three formats, same question will arise with him too over next 3-4 years. Reddy as of now is a good white ball prospect but in test cricket, he has a bit to work on tightening his technique. We are more likely to produce batting spin all rounders more in future though because our home pitches are more spin friendly. Washington Sundar has potential to average mid-40s with bat and 27-28 with bowl over a longer period. That’s the closest we will get to Kallis. Cdd12, nevada and Gollum 3
vvvslaxman Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Kallis was not an opening bowler. Also not a main bowler for his team. Mostly 4th best seamer in his team. When you are surrounded by Donald, Pollock, Tiniest and other seamers his job is to share the workload get few wickets here and there. He has 5 fifers in 272 innings. 2 against Bangladesh, 2 against weakened west indies. Still credit to him to bowl 17 to 20 overs every innings. Gollum and tweaker 2

Agree.Teams often thought him as a loose link and that helped him to get all those wickets. He was good but his numbers became much better due to relentless pressure from those great bowlers Gollum 1
cricketfan28 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 He will become next superstar, and play till 40. BacktoCricaddict 1
bsriharsha Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Don't think any team ever had someone like Kallis. Proper #3-#4 batsman and someone who can bowl plenty of overs. The longevity in his career alone.
Gollum Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Even if a Kallis like prospect emerges, the white ball workload, T20 leagues etc. will take a toll. Kallis was the last of his kind, and anyway in the history of cricket only 2 such players are there, him and Sobers. Lord 1
bsriharsha Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Imran Khan in the latter part of his career had transitioned to that of a batting allrounder more than the bowling allrounder he was prior. Sobers was more of a spinner than a quicker bowler even though he could bowl quick. Kallis among the lot is probably the only guy who could bowl 140s all day and still come in as a proper top class #3. Don't see any other team producing someone like Kallis. A jadeja can be produced who will end up with great stats , performances. But the nature of the game right now doesn't allow a Kallis to be produced.

maniac Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Firstly Kallis was one of the most boring and chipku batsmen of all time. 0 flair. We don’t appreciate such batsmen any more. Pujara was enough for this lifetime (he was great though). We have Jaiswal, Abhishek, Suryavanshis etc. don’t want a chipku batsman. I would rather have a 140+ bowler who can slog a few and have enough defense to hold an end in a tricky situation and an athletic fielder. Get a player like that and that will fix all of Indias problems. That sounds like Harshit Rana but I mean obviously someone better than that. for now I am ok with Pandya and my Dube the undertaker nevada 1
singhvivek141 Posted October 31 Posted October 31 India had a Kallis type allrounder...his name was Manoj Prabhakar. Ended up fixing the games.
nevada Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Kallis is a freak of nature! Built like a tank, he could bowl at brisk pace AND bat for long. Before him, SA had Brian McMillan, who could bowl at brisk pace and bat competently, though not at specialist bat level. But such freaks don't come along often! maniac 1

Kallis was Pujara + Pandu rolled in one
Vilander Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Hardik Pandya , Irfan Pathan, and the recent one the tall one foret his name lol. That's all we have. Kallis was Sachin + Zaheer it's ridiculous.
