GG, Agarkar. Buck stops with them. To not even have him in the T20I squad (when they can accomodate a guy like Sundar) is unacceptable especially when he has outperformed Gill by such a big margin in internationals as well as IPL.

This was a great opportunity to play a youngster in Australia. Not like Jaiswal is a rookie but would have been great for the future to give him a run. I can’t beleive he doesn’t have a slot in 2 formats where probably he can walk into every team in the world in all 3 formats and even be contender for captaincy in most teams

ruining a guy who can be the next Sachin, Kohli by making him a Rahane/ Pujara

Jaiswal's T20I avg is 36, SR 165. That puts him in the Salt/Head class.

Test average 51.65 which for an opener is gold.

No reason he won't do well in ODIs. At the age of 17, he scored a 200 in a Vijay Hazare match, youngest double centurion in List A history.

Even Rahane got a good ODI/T20I run in his early days. Was our opener in 2014 and 2016 WT20s, MO bat in the 2015 WC.

I for once don’t doubt the intention of Gambhir but I feel he over does it: kind or reminds  me of Dravid the coach in his earlier days when he would over- experiment and act over smart.

Jaiswal cannot force his way into t20 team , bits and pieces players are playing ahead of him there .

Replacing guy like Rohit in Odis is long way away.

Let him force his way into t20 team by dominating whatever matches he is going play till world t20 .

avg of 36 and sr of 165 is not good enough for you? Jaiswal deserves to be over Shubman Gill in T20s. Not just a wishful thinking: there are stats and performances at various levels to back that up.

Why isn't he able to force his way into the T20I team? His stats indicate he is among the top 5 batsmen in the world. If that is not enough to force his way into the XI, there is something wrong in the system.

Tomorrow if you drop Jaiswal from tests and make Padikkal open, that doesn't mean the latter is a better player and former couldn't force his way into the team. That is plain and simple injustice.

He should be there , but idiots have been force feeding Gill in all formats.

This is all idiotic Gambhir’s doing he wanted to get rid of  Roko so he is making Gill into his pawn.

Was there any need for him to become t20 vice captain and Odi captain.

Anger should be directed towards Gambhir

He is the one who is hell bent on screwing Gill also by making captain and vice captain  in White ball cricket.

I wanted Jaiswal to be selected in 2023 World Cup itself but they selected Prasidh Krishna.

It's a travesty that they inserted Gill into the T20 team at the cost of Jaiswal!

ODI format for top 3 batsmen ( especially after two new balls ) is by far the easiest format in cricket.. some domestic first class games might be more difficult. Jaiswal could have easily ranked in top 3

Despite the presence of RoKo in ODI, he can easily replace Gill.  But can't.  As Gill is ODI kaptaan.    In T20 also, he can replace Gill who is a proven failure in the shortest format. He can replace Shoonya Yadav too in T20 but can't, as Shoonya is the kaptaan.

His chance in other formats will come.

Best for him to absolutely crush the Test batting charts. In WI tests, he was a bit casual, big 200s were there for the taking. Missed opportunity in the 1st test. Should not miss out vs SA at any cost. His numbers this year are a bit underwhelming for someone of his talent and calibre. Aim for a 400 run series in  2 test SA series, hit a big double hundred, go big and make it count. If it means being selfish, do so.

And for god's sake, don't say publicly that you want to be Indian captain and all that. Great to have that ambition and then find the right time to make your move. Now is not the time and public proclamations would not help. Never works in Indian cricket.
