This GG is such a liar. When asked about India's poor spin bowling, he said we can't compare a rookie like Washi with Ashwin who had the experience of 100 tests. Abe ghonchu, Ashwin retired soon after his 100 tests.

You use that to justify Washi's single wicket in this series? Washi has played 15 tests. When Ashwin had 15 tests experience, he had already won MOTS against Aus, NZ and WI, all 3 of those series being whitewashes in our favor at home, a concept alien to this squad. He got flak for failing in the 2012 series (12 wickets in 4 tests) against England when he had the experience of <10 tests, same series where he scored 300 runs with the bat and second top scorer behind Pujara. Had Washi produced such numbers, everyone would be hailing him and justifying his poor bowling, for his AR abilities. Not to forget that despite all the criticism and mockery, Ashwin immediately bounced back with 30 wickets in 2013 BGT as we blanked Clarke's Aus 4-0.

I am done with the mollycoddling of these so called juniors. Pant, Jaiswal, Bumrah, Washi, Gill, KD, Siraj are at the peak of their powers and yet have allowed two consecutive whitewashes at home against top 8 sides in the span of just over a year. Everyone picks out the ending stage of previous era stars to make this bunch look good, how about we compare these guys with the previous gen at similar ages?

It's even worse. Washington is being played as a batsman not a bowler - oscillating between number 8 and 3 depending on what Gambhir had for breakfast.

He has to decide first if Washy is Ashwin's replacement or not.

There is no need for a replacement. Ashwin broke into the team as good spinner and he was not a replacement for another off spinner. If Kuldeep is now the lead spinner then he is now taking on Ashwin's role. He has to be backed and results expected.

Washington is being played as a nowhere batsman - sometimes a Pujara relacement, at other times playing as a tail ender. Like with a lot of others, he is a good player but without any role clarity. He is floating around a a general purpose utility man like NKR, Jurel etc. Even Pant who should be a keeper above all else is masquerading as a specialist top order batsman in this rabble. The whole things is a mess and sacking GG and the entire non playing leadership in tests would be a essential part of any change

I know all that but judging by the press conference he seems to be comparing the 2. It does not even seem like Sundar's role in the team is clear. Your frontline spinner will not bat at 3 unless it is as a nightwatchman.

He will not be fired as he is a political appointee. Just like how MS was not fired from captaincy after 8-0

0-5 at home is worse than 0-8 away. That said I agree that Gambhir will still stay because of political backing

First he has to leave his role, let his successor make all these calls. Ab jaan choro bhai, first coach who has overseen 2 home series defeats, both whitewashes, we are in crisis mode.

It is not remotely that' straight 'problem or is it?,it is quite complex

Players are incapable of playing on surfaces like this or seaming, neither do we have penetration of our old attack

It will take time to build a test core ,mark your batsmen and build a team around them, need to forget about WTC and build the team for we have to introduce new capable pacers and batters who will take their time to get to their own

Ideally we should be having seperate coach for red ball and white ball cricket. Make VVS Laxman test coach pls.

Vvs had rejected it saying it is too demanding and he doesn't want to travel so much.

Well you apparently missed the memo, our frontline spinner is good enough for max 5 over spell in tests! So just barely enough overs for ODI, then he's a nighthawk(?) on other days when he's not being sidelined for chumps like Chuzi behel :gossip:
