They were turned into.
Bengal, Punjab..both states played a key role in our freedom movement...hence special focus was given to these 2 states to break them from inside.
Punjabi youngsters are deeply involved in drugs and their involvement in the defense forces is going down...Himachal, Haryana, UTK are on the rise instead.
Same goes for Bengalis...the land of KhudiRam Bose, SC Bose, Bipin Chandra Pal etc is converted by commies to an edge where drinking and chatting became the routine. Industries were shut down and people lost whatever skill they had.

Yeah but same happens in Bengal. Just a few days back, a Kali temple was vandalized and goddess statue beheaded. Abductions, rapes, forced conversions, land grabbing, you name it. Mamata police instead harrases Hindus who protest. And bhadraloks direct all their anger towards BJP/RSS and Hindi speaking UP, Bihar folks.

It has been like that since Bakhtiyar Khilji with his 20 horsemen destroyed entire Gauda Kingdom of Bengal.

@MechEng Pashtun people of India do not speak Pashtu/Hindko anymore. Except for surnames, there is nothing Pashtun about these families. All are Urdu speaking. Also I’m part Bohri, so that’s that.

 

My wider point is that Muslim Indians aren’t of any different gene pool than the rest of India.  Essentially the same people.

But there was  immigration from middle east to India during Delhi Sultanate and Moghul periods. 

 

You can visit the old city of hyderabad. Many people look more like turks than telugus or north indians.
