rollingstoned Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Pretty memorable tournament and good quality of matches all round. Pre tournaments favorites Australia crashing out early was a shock and best game was for me the Afg Saf game which went to 2 super overs. Our semi against England perhaps second but even the poyz SL game was exciting. What do you think? Despite it being hybrid and conditions being far different in SL. NZ may or may not have even qualified depending on the rained out famr against poyz. Norman, Mariyam, Vk1 and 3 others 3 3
maniac Posted March 8 Posted March 8 In hindsight burned out from T20 kirkut. Won’t watch a lot of cricket till 2027 odi worldcup? I think we have a Nzl overseas test tour. Will be excited for that. May check out IPL knockouts wanted_desi 1
cowboysfan Posted March 8 Posted March 8 good tournament, Associate nations need a lot of support imo.ICC should focus on African nations as there is a bigger scope for improvement there. BacktoCricaddict 1
adi B Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Very entertaining! Some close matches ,some thrashing, all In an exciting Wt20 as it should be ! Only the Finals came as a dampner!
vvvslaxman Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Very good tournament. Neutral crowd. Clash between big teams was very very less because of the structure of the tournament. 20 team format is good given the frequency. As vaughan on cricbuzz says if India had fielded a second team both Indian teams would have been int he final lol That is true. tapandrun and BacktoCricaddict 2
Gollum Posted March 8 Posted March 8 One of the best WCs of all time. Very enjoyable.Cherry on the cake quite obvious. Associates and Zimbabwe did well, no Kanglus, Pooks getting chitrol. Quality Super 8 games especially in the Eng/NZ group. SF spots were decided on final day in both groups. One great SF, the other SF and F were one-sided but had great performances. Each stage of the WC had great games Afg-RSA SL-Aus Zim-Aus Nepal-Eng etc (8-9 good games IMO) Eng-Pak Eng-NZ Pak-SL (screw that umpire in last ball, warna would have been an epic finish) Ind-WI Ind-Eng Variety of pitches, rain not a big hindrance. Pre-seeding was a dampener, hope that is avoided in future editions. rollingstoned 1
Gollum Posted March 8 Posted March 8 (edited) Crowds for neutral matches were also great, especially in India. Edited March 8 by Gollum tapandrun 1

Mariyam Posted March 8 Posted March 8 The smaller nations have stepped up. USA Afghanistan ( not a smaller nation anymore) Pak Zimbabwe Nepal All played good cricket in patches

BacktoCricaddict Posted March 8 Posted March 8 The good (other than India win): 1)Ozzies got gobsmacked and hit the exit early 2)Zimbabwe revival 3)Stars seemed to be aligning for another Pak backdoor SF entry...and then poof. they gone 4) Did anyone miss the little Padosi to the East? I didn't. The bad: Afghanistan still at the doorstep, haven't entered top band. Stagnant. The Ugly: 1) Ruk Ruk balling 2) Tuk Tuk batting ... Both by same team. Mariyam 1

I think the AI jio Hotstar uses just got a free Spanish/Portuguese translate + commentary option. If one really understood the language it would be directly translated from Harsha’s nasal braying
Laaloo Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Good tourney but I didn't like Jay Shah cozing it up with our team and during our games. He's ICC CEO right? He should be neutral.
goose Posted March 8 Posted March 8 best t20 world cup i reckon since the very first one in 2007. primarily because of how competitive some of the associates were and scheduling three games per day was a genius move. always waking up to a result with another 1-2 games to enjoy should i choose to turn on. the icc need to find a way to turn those associates into major forces in t20 rollingstoned and BacktoCricaddict 2
BacktoCricaddict Posted March 8 Posted March 8 As for memorable-ness, 2007 and 2024 were more so. Mainly due to riveting finals. Mariyam 1

deathmonger Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Very satisfying cause they built this team up post 2024. Bringing in Abhishek, Tilak. Bringing back Varun. Reintroducing Bumrah in 2025.
