I watched the last day of 2001 test match after having given up on the series and thinking who will stop the greatest  juggernaut rolling over everyone . After the miracle of day4 of Kolkata test match, I had a small glimmer of hope that we could win and we did.

For me it was what got me back into cricket - not just test cricket, but cricket itself. After all the match-fixing scandals and the Ozzie test dominance, I was losing interest. Then this match followed by the Natwest match brought the interest back.

When VVS and Dravid batted through the day - I felt at that time like I had grown 25 years younger!!!

 

BTW a tertiary effect of this match was teams no longer started enforcing "follow on" if the other team was 200 short - how tired your own bowlers were entered into the equation.
