France would have been better playing this poorly in a group match as wouldn't have mattered.

Chose the wrong game to have a collective stinker.

Yea.. it is more like punjab kings. Trying to "outbat"opposition all the time without worrying about defending.

I don't know whether France were over confident or didn't have a back up plan to cut through Spain's one touch passing game because they looked lost from minute 1

In Basketball analogy would you call Spain's defense a zone defense? Messi might be able to break thru with his quick passes provided he gets there.

Spain ka Suryavanshi :woot:

When Spain conceded a goal against Belgium in the QFs, it was after 10 hours of play. They have not lost in the last 28 games. That’s how much strong they are atm. Once the score a goal, the difference is impregnable. I would choose them to win the World Cup. Please no  England. I can  even take Argentina and simulation expert Messi

Espania

Impressive performance. Thrashed France.

Laser guided passing, which creates opportunities often.

Multi skilled players who can change positions to keep the other team guessing.

How Spain have developed ‘tiki-taka 2.0’ in pursuit of World Cup glory

Even Pep Guardiola, the man who helped it become the prevailing footballing ideology, dismissed it in 2014, saying: “I loathe all that passing for the sake of it. You have to pass the ball with a clear intention, with the aim of making it into the opposition's goal”.

I have to  say some of the lower ranked teams competed better aginst spain than France. That is how bad they were.

France always had negative match up vs Spain.  They would have likely thrashed Eng/Arg but they tend to struggle against Spain.

Finals would be a cracker

Spain once again showing that you need to play as a 'Team' to dominate and win. Individual brilliance can only get you so far; collective brilliance matters. I hope Arg play as a team and don't let Messi noise overshadow their performance

Gotta say as someone who didn't begin watching football that long back that Yamal foul pen was soft af.

France always concedes a stupid penalty in matches they lose - remember the last final and the penalty against Angel Di Maria conceded by Ousmane Dembele?

BTW Dembele had a stinker of a game that time and was again well below par today. I was just waiting for such a game from him - he always produces one. Dembele  reminds me of a certain Dinesh Karthik a la club player vs national player.

The only reason Portugal went toe to toe with Spain was because of Portugal’s midfield and Nuno Mendez till he was on the field.

This France team is exactly the type of team Spain thrives against

France have no structure, no midfield, players terrible on the ball, players hiding from taking the ball.  Just all action

Cubarasi is another teenage star. Completely kept France attack in check yesterday, even Cucurella was everywhere. France played like bunch of school kids, losing the possession so frequently is crime at the SF level, they looked unworthy of SF spot,Having bad day is given but this was atrocious performance.

True, now I think Portugal actually competed well against Spain although it was boring 0-1 game. Even Beligium did well.

I dont know if the links will display properly but basically it shows who are the players with most goals, assists, chances created, successful passes and successful dribbles for each team in semi final.

All other teams have different names for each item and at max 1 player with 2 of those

For Argentina, its Messi for all of those. So its not Messi noise, its literally one man carrying the team.
