Austin 3:!6 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Indian cricket needs a clear direction, not constant chopping and changing. Gill has the temperament, technique, and leadership qualities to build a strong T20 team for the future. Give him the responsibility, back him for the long term, and let him create his own era.
Gollum Posted July 9 Posted July 9 What is with people clamoring for Gill and KL. Both were utterly useless in this format, deserved to be dropped. What did Gill do in Asia Cup against 7th and 8th ranked teams? New guy, Lone Wolf and rollingstoned 3

Gollum Posted July 9 Posted July 9 (edited) Gill is our test and ODI captain. His recent exploits against non-minnows at home. Test whitewash against RSA, virtually out of WTC race 1-2 series loss against second string NZ in ODIs, their first series win in India. Edited July 9 by Gollum
Frustrated Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Replacing a donkey with another won't change the outcome. cricspirit, Gollum, singhvivek141 and 3 others 6
Prabhdeep Singh Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I agree, in SENA T20 you need proper batsmen who can all play all formats hence they can adapt to different conditions. Current line up is full T20 specialists which means their overall game is deficient. Both Jaiswal & Gill for SENA T20. Next T20 WC in Australia. It is understandable that in Asian conditions Gill was not required but SENA you need proper batsmen who can handle short ball with aggression.
zen Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I think the opening pair is currently settled with Abhishek and Suryavaansi. Samson is good at #3-4. For Gill to come in, he needs to be able to play at #4-5. Lord, TheBull and Gollum 1 2
bowl_out Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Bring Rinku and Patidar instead. Drop Dube and Tilak. Move Kishan to bench. Play VS Abhishek Sanju Patidar Iyer Rinku Experiment with a few domestic all rounders/hitters at 7 (Madhav Tiwari/Ashutosh)
The Realist Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Get back to traditional values Gill as captain. Rahul as VC Win win Manucrick 1
express bowling Posted July 9 Posted July 9 (edited) T20 WC28 is in Aus, NZ One thing is pretty clear. We need atleast 2 batters in the top 4 who can 1 ) Adjust their games to the playing conditions. 2 ) Can play pace and bounce. 3 ) Can maintain high SR while doing the above. How can we meet these requirements ? 1 ) Train the existing batters in such conditions. 2 ) Try a couple of new batters who meet these requirements. As far as Gill is concerned .... he is someone who keeps improving, with some hiccups. We have seen it in his captaincy as well as his test match batting. So, his past T20I performances may not necessarily be a reflection of his future T20I ability. Gill can't be brought in as a T20I captain as his place in the team is in question. But he can be tried in some bilaterals as a batter with clear instruction that high SR is mandatory. Edited July 9 by express bowling bowl_out, Sandz and Lord 2 1

He is a run machine in IPL and has the temperament to do well in SENA conditions. He's played in the wrong format. He'll find more success in white ball, particularly ODIs express bowling 1
Zero_Unit Posted July 9 Posted July 9 If he is in the team, he gets sh*t on. If not in the team, still gets sh*t on. What do we really want? lol
Bigg Brother Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I think Tilak will be removed as VC and will eventually be dropped. express bowling 1

The surface has nothing to do with it. Iyer is one of the worst batsmen on these surfaces, and samson, ishan, abhishek, all are better. Yet iyer scored a 80 Its baffling to see people genuinely believe its the surface and suddenly iyer is nore skiled than any other batsman in the team. Its politics and insecurity which is making our talented batsmen fail, not surface or conditions or lack of skills or IPL, or anything else.

What makes you believe Samson and Kishan will do better than Iyer on these pitches and grounds. Samson has been playing for the last 10 and was a repeat failure. He was never reliable. Kishan was not tested enough on the offside in the world cup. Same with Dube.
Suhaan Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Bring Gill and together with Sarpunture he will make the side great again Wah wah wah wah op,gajab Tilak Sarpunture and Gill will make sure we loose before we step on the field
vayuu1 Posted July 10 Posted July 10 I think its time to move away from axar harshit, chakri ,prasidh and Arshdeep as well Zim series is last chance for Suryavanshi and kishan Its clear that iyer isnt cut outside subcontinent and players are struggling against hard lengths especially outside subcontinent,so can Patidar or paddikal score against hard lengths outside india against taller quicker bowlers and where are our taller quicker bowlers likes of brar ,tarmale ,ashok, tyagi kuldeep was dropped why does axar warrants place in T20 or loi squad these are the questions we need to ask
vayuu1 Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Also before t20wc28 we have odi wc27 south africa the pitches in Africa are far more testing than Australia
