Ravi shastri: Its time That Virat should be Captain all formats

This is important coz its coming from a guy who was part of dressing room for past 2 yrs

 

Ravi Shastri- no disrespect to dhoni- he can play on but if I was a selector i'd think of making virat captain in all forms

 

Absolutely agree with him, Its time Dhoni shud play as player and enjoy his game and he can contribute massively as player and he still is India's Best keeper batsman n one of biggest match winner In Odi's and let him enjoy his game . No offence to his contribution he has been the best Indian Odi captain but there comes a time always. Virat is in best form of his life and its walys the best time to give someone captaincy and we have 3 yrs left b4 next Wc. Virat Captaincy in Ipl was absolutely superb considering they had the shittest bowling yet they were in final and didnt loose badly also. No point giving him captaincy when after few yrs he is not young and that enthusiast as of now and is more worried about his form or may be even fitness. 

 

The way Virat has led his team complete team his shoulder has to be appreciated same as warner and as far as final goes someone will win someone will loose. Had Rcb not lost starc, badree n SRh have lost Mustafizur n boult b4 Ipl begun story might have been diff. 

But wats imp is whats gud for Indian Cricket not for particular indidvidual.

Shastri has been trying to do this from day one.Nothing new.

When Dhoni does well ,like the T20 seriees and fairly good outing in WC...he starts his public praise  for some time ,otherwise he has always been trying to be on team Kohli.

 

Now that he is no longer in contention for the 'director ' post inspite of a campaign by some national players to retain him...he can do what he was doing earlier openly.

Waiting for Kumble to publicly support Kohli and then finally Sachin to root for Kohli. Dhoni may then be forced to quit or get sacked finally. Hoping this happens in the next 6 months when we play lots of tests at home which should hopefully result in series wins.

 

Not sure why , despite Srini's departure, Dhoni continues to be the short format captain. Who exactly are his godfathers now when all he's done is lost one series after another in last 18 months

Its india u ppl take offence for now reason, u remove dhoni as captain ppl will go mad. Ppl jst love screaming injustice same thing happ during ganguly time same wud happen now. Problem with subcontinent teams is they live in past and As shastri mentioned Aus always look into future . Once Sangakara also mentioned Subcontinent teams have to learn to let go of things to move forward

 

I think they are just waiting for all test series to end and us winning to gain momentum towards changing of captaincy

He had his chance last yr to captain in Zimb but he choose to rest, where is the passion. 

U really want a captain who says dnt overrate Mohd asif after having no clue against his bowling and then getting out to him agian. The guy wud command no respect from opp or his own team himself.

I do think Dhoni must go as captain from all formats, but its time we analyze whether Kohli is really the right fit for all formats. I would rather have separate captains across formats to keep the pressure on each captain to deliver in the format that they are captaining. 

 

Ashwin as captain for ODIs and Rohit for T20s or vice versa. Don't make Kohli as captain of all formats, very likely that he will become just as stubborn if not more than Dhoni over time.

He also feel now is the right time to make switch in the interest of Indian cricket

Shastri is very close to the BCCI.   His statement could well be ...the BCCI preparing ground for Dhoni's removal from captaincy.

Am all for having captains in diff formats , yes kohli shudnt be burdened

But the gud thing is he enjoys pressure and as far as stubborness goes it happens with every captain after a point will happen to kohli ashwin rohit rahane who so ver captains for a long time. 

 

As far ashwin is concerned he is an intelligent man, my only problem with as captain is he has lost his place to even jadeja at times overseas n fairely so. A capatin has to 1st own his place in 11. How wud he inspire the team overseas when he himself struggles for his own form

Virat tends to start panicking a bit on the field when bowlers are leaking runs. Public displays of frustration may bring out the best in him, but not sure those displays help the team.

 

That said, I am not sure who else could be captain. Dhoni is done, I agree. Ashwin is just not consistent enough on several types of wickets abroad. Rahane has no business playing T20 and whether he should play ODIs can be argued both ways. Rohit has no business playing tests.

Dhawan has no business playing international cricket.

Shastris understanding about cricket , strategy and talent is no better  than Boria Mazumdar. He is from the generation which used to be afraid of fast bowlers. But agrre with him thats its time for MSD to pass on captains cap. Kohli should be test captain only.

 

ODIs need to go someone else (Rohit/Rahane). Dont care about t20.

Virat is a very thorough captain - Ashwin

Speaking to Hindustan Times, India offspinner R Ashwin lauded Virat Kohli's captaincy. "Virat is a very thorough captain. He does his homework before the game," Ashwin said. "We do a lot of team meetings before the game, there's a lot of honesty around. That gives me the confidence and interest while going out on the field. He gives me enough freedom to express myself and take control of what fields I want to set and how I want to bowl."

 

Yeah looks like time is running out for Dhoni's captaincy. One more reason why Dhoni was so keen to play in the Zim tour. Reason was none of that "I want to help youngsters  crap". He is just looking after his own interests.

Shastri's is regarded very highly by lots of international players, past and present.  Primarily because he is a very positive person and is a very good motivator. He has helped many young players too. 

 

He is not a big tactician but his understanding of cricket is not that bad either. He has a simple way of looking at things.

 

During his playing days he was one of the few batsmen who batted well against the West Indian quicks....opened the innings in test matches in the West indies and scored runs...and also gave back  verbally what he got  from the Aussies. Once , when he was playing in Australia, Mike Whitney, who was the 12th man, abused him. Shastri said, " If you could fuc*ing play as well as you can fuc*ing talk, you would not be the 12th man ".        Lots of interesting anecdotes are there regarding his aggression.

 

There was another incident in South Africa in 2000 or 2001 ......when a white match referee ( I think )  made a glaring decision against India. There was a big controversy and a press conference was held. The guy came and said " No comments ". Shastri raised his hand and said, " We all know how you look like...if you have nothing to say on this matter, why did you come ? "   

 

His support for Raina in tests was wrong....but everyone makes some mistakes.
