Atleast under MS Dhoni we used to win at home

Only 15 times out of   61  test innings in India ( he has batted in the top 6  )

How many times has Dhoni batted at 6 even in India?

He started batting during the England series after realizing we lacked the bowling to take 20 wickets and needed 5 bowlers .

He batted the entire AUS series at 6 and obviously didn't get a chance again in India as he retired .He didn't bat more in the past because we never struggled at home to take 20 wickets so always played 4 bowlers .

Again if Ashwin and Jadeja prove to be world class and we settle with 4 bowlers then we will miss him less (as Ashwin Jadeja and Saha at 7,8&9) can to some extent make up for Dhoni's batting at 7 .

But if we again struggle to take 20 with 4 bowlers and decide to go for 5th bowler solely miss the batting of Dhoni .It's that simple really .

that is illogical to say. You mean we must be winning every game in India before that series which is not true. Saying we never struggled to take 20 wickets at home is rubbish. We have lost an drawn matches at home. If we had never struggled, we would have won every single match. Reason was since England series, we started preparing rank turners, so, Dhoni started to play 3rd spinner and he needed 2 seamers too to make use of reverse swing. Not because we were struggling to take 20 wickets.

Not every match but every series .

It means not always we were able to take 20 wickets. So, taking 20 wickets wasnt the reason to play 5 bowlers. We actually do not need 5 bowlers at home because majority of the overs are bowled by spin ad 5th bowler is mostly underused. Overseas, we do need when spinners are negated.

Only real MSD fans understand the motive of this thread :icflove:

Kohli fans and Sachin bhakts (aka @New guy) were getting agitated since yesterday :cantstop:

BS this wasn't a jinx thread. Be a man and accept it. You made a premature thread and now it seemed to blow up your face. Pathetic. Dude. You seem worse than Pakistani fans when they cry about match fixing.

hmm a coaching issue which needs to be raised. Indian batters need to stop throwing it away as they did in the first innings. If this was 2 years ago I would have said they are young. Need more accountability in the middle order. Now we are having 5-6 players with 30 tests or so under their belt.

But no point blaming Kohli. Ultimately a captain is as good as his team. You cant polish a turd is a saying. If Indian batsman throw away their wickets neither MSD nor Kohli is to blame....No captain is to blame if we go from 168/1 to 318 all out.

I do hope posters can keep apart the team and the captain when judging.  This also goes for the disaster which was 2011 overseas in England and Aus. No Indian captain could have prevented those defeats. It was a collective failure.
