Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 He is a gun bowler but doesnt get a chance to play often for SA. Is he plain unlucky or a victim of quota politics?
f.b.m Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Who is the mediocre coloured fast bowler keeping him out? tweaker and sandeep 2
G_B_ Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Hmm was pick of bowlers in india as well Sent from my Wileyfox Swift using Tapatalk
Texan Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Probably a bit of both. Your first choice 3 seamers are going to be Steyn (can't drop the best fast bowler in the World for the last 6-7 years), Philander (who has a phenomenal record) and Rabada (who has immense potential and has the results to match as well). It seems like Abbott has leapfrogged Morne Morkel as the 4th choice pacer. Not surprised by it considering how well he was bowling and making the batsman play at every delivery. It just seems like SA have a wealth of pacers at their disposal and the colored ones are also doing extremely well. tweaker, express bowling, G_B_ and 1 other 4
Texan Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Even with this Man of the Match 9-wicket haul, had Steyn been fit for the next Test, most likely Abbott would have been dropped. tweaker and sscomp32 2
prinzo Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Unlucky , Rabada and Philander rates above him iMO sandeep and tweaker 2
chewy Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 But it seems in recent years, the more diverse SA team the better they play as a unit maybe lesson for India to get more non-Brahmin and Muslim players into fist class cricket and hopefully Indian team tweaker and Vilander 2
Lannister Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 This guy is seriously underrated, and can hold his own in all three formats. He has got the right attitude for a bowler, something you don't see in our fast bowlers.
mishra Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Not better than other pacers in African team.others are either equall or better. Abott was bowling at 134K. Rabada was bowling at 139K with same or better accuracy. Just that pitch suited his bowling. but he didnt cause same trouble or looked nowhere near as threatening as Rabada. tweaker 1
Vilander Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 i think SA white cricketers should migrate to Ireland. What a serious waste.
fineleg Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 This is like Stuart McGill. Just too many good bowlers for SA. Steyn, Rabada, Philander, Abbot, Morne Morkel and more. Just too many excellent fast bowlers. They can rotate them. @chewy India does not have any quota system for selection - Zaheer Khan, Mohd. Kaif, Irfan Pathan, Y. Pathan are all not Hindus. Vilander, beetle, tweaker and 1 other 4
maniac Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 (edited) A very average and ordinary trundler....Aussie batting and a good pitch and the world famous pak batting in the past have made him look like a world beater. Has nothing to offer. Edited November 15, 2016 by maniac

Folks would have to move from their NE states and play for other states or organizations and get selected. India does not distinguish between its people, they can live and work any where in India other than Kashmir. tweaker 1
mancalledsting Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Yeah steyn and morkel kept him out, blatant racism

An attack of Philander, Steyn/Morkel, Abbott and Rabada is the way to go... I used Steyn/Morkel given poor fitness of former. tweaker 1
chewy Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Was this still the strongest SA team? Kyle Abbot, Rilee Rossouw, Stiaan van Zyl, David Wiese, Rory Kleinveldt, Colin Ingram, Richard Levi all now Kolpak players and at least two to three of these would walk into current SA team speedheat 1

Rilee Rossouw had an outside chance if someone gets injured. that's it.

King Tendulkar Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Apparently morkel told very unlikely that he and steyn will ever play in same team again I.e quotas Ultimate_Game 1
