I feel against pacers specially genuine fast bowlers one needs a very good keeper and I feel karthik/parthiv/even DHoni are not good keeper..even saha dropped a chance. I am telling you before the TEST Match it self.. u just watch the keeping , u will find him finding it difficult to keep to Umesh /shammi and ISHANT will be too TUF to keep for the Dwarf Parthiv. I am sorry for calling him dwarf ..he is just short. Wicket-keepers are traditionally short. Shorter wicket keeper are better standing up to spin Taibu, Moin Khan, Latif, Adam parore, Kaluwitharna, G Jones, etc. Even Mccullum was not that tall. Link to comment

But much quicker, and a brilliant anticipator. Parthiv has slow reflexes, hard hands, low agility and poor technique. Link to comment

vishalvirsingh
let me cut the crap and straight come to the point.... Decision of bringing parthiv is Wrong and not a long term decision . I am confident that he will do less than decent job behind the stumps. . But I am confident that he will score runs. still I will say he will need to be dumped as I don't hv too much confidence in his keeping to fast bowlers. Link to comment

So when would be okay for giving him a chance, his form with bat looks great this season why not give him a chance when his confidence is high. Pant can play as specialist batsman in LOIs Pant has played 8 FC matches,no Irani or Board president game in it.No A tours nothing We cant a 19 yr old based on half a Ranji season plus his main job is keeping which by all accounts is average at best Parthiv himself is an example why you don't blood people early in Test cricket.Imagine Pant dropping Cook or Root and them winning it for England.Dont think a 19 yr old can handle that sscomp32 and express bowling 2 Link to comment

I'm not sure whether he has the single taking ability that is crucial at 5 and 6 (of course, the big hits are equally important, which he can do). Lord and sscomp32 2 Link to comment

Mosher
Kumble talking about Parthiv, Karthik and Pant " On picking Parthiv: Parthiv has been really consistent, both in his keeping as well as batting. Yes, Rishabh [Pant] has certainly shown the exuberance and what a young cricketer can bring in. He has shown a lot of his batting skills. He has obviously got a lot of runs this season in the domestic circuit. But Parthiv was chosen for his keeping skills and his experience. Regarding Dinesh [Karthik], at the moment I don't think Dinesh is keeping wickets for Tamil Nadu, and I am not sure why that is the case." http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-england-2016-17/content/story/1068191.html express bowling 1 Link to comment

vvvslaxman
I am not sure any wicket keeper has made come back like this in the last 30 years. After he left we had DK then Dhoni for a long time (all his test career) and Saha. In the last 12 years he has played 1 test. I am not sure how Kumble can call him "experienced". His only meaningful experience was in 2004 which was a disaster. Link to comment
Cricketics
Man, regardless of how Parthiv does in this coming test, there are going to be plenty of memes floating all over the net on him. I can see few memes already. He is going to be trending for the next 10 days at least. express bowling 1 Link to comment
