Pant on standby and rotate Jayant and Kuldeep. Kuldeep should be first choice if he plays against Bangladesh and does well there. If he struggles against Bangladesh, I will give Jayant first test but still keep Kuldeep in the squad  and rotate them in them in the series.

Saha instead of parthiv or Nadeem instead of Jayant....

Not both as it will weaken the batting and balance will be lost

Saha set to return in Irani Cup

Quote

India Test wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, who has been out of action since straining his left thigh during the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam, is set to make a first-class return in the Irani Cup. Saha has been named in the Rest of India side that will take on Ranji Trophy champions Gujarat at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai from January 20 to 24.

Cheteshwar Pujara will lead the Rest of India squad, which also includes Saha and Karun Nair among players who featured in India's most recent Test series. There is plenty of first-class experience in the squad, which includes the likes of Abhinav Mukund, Manoj Tiwary, Shardul Thakur, Pankaj Singh and Shahbaz Nadeem, as well as a sprinkling of young players such as the left-arm wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav, the wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan and the seamer K Vignesh, who enjoyed a breakthrough season with Tamil Nadu.

The Rest of India squad was the first one picked by the three-man selection committee comprising MSK Prasad, Devang Gandhi and Sarandeep Singh, after Gagan Khoda and Jatin Paranjpe were removed in keeping with the Lodha Commitee's recommendations.

Rest of India squad: Abhinav Mukund (Tamil Nadu), Akhil Herwadkar (Mumbai), Cheteshwar Pujara (Saurashtra, captain), Karun Nair (Karnataka), Manoj Tiwary (Bengal), Wriddhiman Saha (Bengal, wk), Kuldeep Yadav (Uttar Pradesh), Shahbaz Nadeem (Jharkhand), Pankaj Singh (Rajasthan), K Vignesh (Tamil Nadu), Siddarth Kaul (Punjab), Shardul Thakur (Mumbai), Akshay Wakhare (Vidarbha), Ishan Kishan (Jharkhand, wk), Prashant Chopra (Himachal Pradesh).

Parthiv vs Saha in the Irani cup.  First of many selection calls that need to be made in the VK regime.  Let's see what he does, and what he says about it.

No team will drop a batsman averaging 47-48 overall and 50+ away. He was considered to be our best batsman before England series and is still 2nd best batsman of the team.

Yes, many posters are dropping Rahane, when he will definitely play.

If fit these are certain selections in the team

Vijay - too experienced and settled opener atm.

Rahul - score 199 in last game, can't be dropped.

Pujara - beast in Asia

Kohli - captain

Rahane - 2nd best batsman

Nair - scored triple in last match, has to be selected

Ashwin - no 1 spinner in world

Jadeja - no 2 spinner in world

Shami - best pacer in the team

Only 2nd pacer and wk spot is open.

It'll be interesting if Wriddhipops scores at least a decent 50+ score in the Irani Trophy.  Which is very possible against a pedestrian Gujarat bowling unit sans Bumrah.

Not sure if selectors are going to take the decision out of VK's hands, but very interested in how VK goes about the 'keeper decision.

Jayant Yadav scored a century on a tough pitch in the last test he played.

Kohli is almost sure to play 5 bowlers.

Don't see Jayant dropped  if fit.

So you are playing all 6 bats which we can't as we have to drop one of them to accomodate the third spinner Jayant or Kuldeep. So who are you dropping. You wrote pretty much for all that they can not be dropped. One has to miss out. You want to play only 2 spinners?

Parthiv averaged 65 with the bat in the test series against England + Just scored a match winning century in the ranji trophy final against Mumbai.

Has done nothing wrong to be dropped for that tailender Saha who has a career test batting average less than Mushfiqur Rahim :hysterical::hysterical:

People who are making fun of Parthiv.

First of all, the guy is an amazing batsman. I would pick Pathiv as a batsman over the likes of Rohit.

Secondly he didn't drop anything in the last series against England and in Ranji

Thirdly, I saw Saha drop sitters against Newzealand. Saha is a good keeper but nothing special. Pathiv is 5 times the player Saha is.

I think OP selected the best eleven.
