Ironhide
In a telephonic chat with Reuters, Umesh said that although the core of the attack is ready, it still needs a helping hand in the form of a specialist bowling coach, ahead of the upcoming overseas tours. "I think we now have the pace attack to win Test series in these countries," Yadav said. "A fast bowling coach will definitely help bowlers like Ishant, Shami, Bhuvi and myself to improve. In some matches I bowl badly and don't realise what went wrong and how to correct. A fast bowling coach can help us correct our mistakes and improve as bowler," he added. Umesh enjoyed a breakthrough series against Australia, finishing with 17 wickets from four Tests, at an impressive average of 23.41 and recollected the handy advice given to him by batting coach, Sanjay Bangar, a former pace bowling all-rounder himself. "I had been bowling short for some time and then Bangar asked me to bowl a much fuller length," he said. "He suggested that if I bowl a fuller length it would give the ball enough time to swing in air. Bangar told me not to either rush through my bowling strides or run too slow. He encouraged me to find my ideal rhythm and that is what I focus on while bowling. For me as a bowler, rhythm is very important. I don't even look at the pitch before a test match. I just try to get into a nice rhythm as early as possible and rest just happens," the Vidarbha pacer added. While Umesh reckons that he's coming of age, he's also conscious of the fact that he has just one five-wicket haul from 31 Tests, a record that he is keen on improving. "I think about it and feel I should have got more five-fors in the 31 tests I've played so far," he said. "I want to change that and I'm working hard. The Australia series has given me a lot of confidence. I want to be more aggressive in my bowling. I'm going to bowl more bouncers and yorkers now," Umesh concluded. http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/93971/a-fast-bowling-coach-can-help-us-correct-our-mistakes-umesh-yadav Mosher, express bowling, New guy and 4 others 6 1 Link to comment

If Zak is asking for too much, then we will probably end up with another Aussie domestic bowling coach with less international experience than Ishant. We need a real fast bowler who performed well in Australia and SA. Rightarmfast 1 Link to comment

Muloghonto
Its kind of sad that Malcolm Marshall died so young. Because while he was known for being one of, if not the cleverest fast bowler of his time, the likes of Pollock, Ntini, etc. make a clear point to say that it was under the guidance of Marshall as a coach in the South African domestic system, that they really learnt how to bowl fast. As in, how to 'think' as a fast bowler and what skill to prioritize mastery over in what sequence. We need a fast bowling coach of that calibre. Unfortunately, i can't think of one thats interested in coaching and has that kind of pedigree. I know Walsh wanted to coach a while ago but it seemed like he only wanted to coach the West Indies and not be away from his beloved Caribbean for too long. That's fair we definitely will need a lot of work on our bowlers to win overseas. 100 days aren't enough. Seems Zak is too busy. He would be ideal, as it seems Shami and Umesh in particular are much more comfortable/understand better in Hindi. Language barrier is a real issue for coaching selection in our team. Maybe Allan Donald would be willing to coach Indian bowling. He at least has prior experience with some of our players in IPL. Link to comment

Gollum
Ringing endorsement for Bharat Arun. NOT. BCCI is the world's richest board. They should get rid of Bharat Arun and Sridhar(our catching ) and get some proper coaches in place. If Bangla, Lanka can hire top names why can't we? Jonty Rhodes as fielding coach anyone? For bowling we have Donald, Bond, Mcgrath etc to choose from. vishalvirsingh and beetle 2 Link to comment
Rightarmfast
BCCI is rich enough to take Wasim Waqar and Shoaib at the same time. Shoaib would be a great guy to have as a coach. If not, its about time Srinath gets rid of the match referee job and join as a coach! Link to comment
express bowling
I have watched a video of Brett Lee coaching. He is a very approchable guy and is used to the Indian culture. His knowledge regarding fast bowling is good too. Get him. Ankit_sharma03, Mosher, Sidhoni and 2 others 5 Link to comment
Rightarmfast
yeah Brett Lee sounds like a good idea. What's heartening for me is the kind of language Umesh is using. He sounds like someone who wants to prove a point, who wants to be better! Good times for Indian cricket express bowling, vishalvirsingh and Mosher 3 Link to comment

mancalledsting
ex quicks would be more reluctant to sign up to full time coaching job as one motivation for retiring is to avoid touring hence we end up with joe Dawes, David sekar types. Allan Donald might be a good one- he helped NZ previously. Link to comment
ShebbySB
I'd prefer Shoaib Akhtar but due to political issues not gonna happen so ya Brett Lee is a pretty good option. Link to comment
rkt.india
I would like either Jason Gillespie or Damien Fleming. These guys have very good coaching experience. Sidhoni and Rightarmfast 2 Link to comment
