sensible-indian Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Led us well. Was tactically good. Batted like a champ in the last innings right from the first ball after Pujara brainfade. And those two sixes off Cummins....WOW. I think the second six was the best shot of the series. Mosher, Masquerade, sscomp32 and 6 others 9
Laaloo Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I was wrong about Rahane. Well played boss sandeep 1
G_B_ Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Looks like Rahane does better with responsibility. Was not that good in the first 3 tests. Made captain and scored the best entire home season I would say (barring BD test) an able stand in at the very least. sscomp32, Laaloo and sensible-indian 3
beetle Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Smith was right about him.He wasn't just trollinh Kohli. sscomp32 1
BeautifulGame Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 How's that for aggression. Not everyone needs to be expressive to be a good captain. Shunya, beetle, sensible-indian and 4 others 7
Cricketics Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 He has been a brilliant player who even showed his great captaincy skills and kept the team calm. He was brilliant yesterday to set up the slip cordon to get few quick wickets when indian needed to keep Aussies to low total. And the today kept things calm and ensured it was an easy win. What a Great Player. We are lucky to have him. sandeep, beetle and Texan 3

gattaca Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 People wanted to play Karun nair instead of him. rahane is the best bat along with pujara and now Rahul joined the group as well. G_B_ and sandeep 2
Texan Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 What a way he finished the match! Absolutely astonishing. Just came out with a resolve to get the job done and do it quick. Superb batting there and Rahane just showed us that he does not have to show raw emotions to get the job done. Behind that calm demeanour lie nerves of steel. Hats off! beetle 1
G_B_ Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I also feel through this series he has put this Nair or Rahane debate to bed for a while to come. Karun maybe needs to go back to the domestics for a while. Gollum, sscomp32, beetle and 1 other 4
Sidhoni Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 This was a pitch tailor made for him. You know the quality of a player when such a statement can be said about this pitch. G_B_ 1
Adi_91 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 This Rahane is whom we all wanted to see. Except for the flat Day 1 session where he seemed clueless, he has been impressive in his captaincy. G_B_ and beetle 2

I agree with the top part but regarding Karun, I think we can persist with him for Sri Lanka series just like we have given chances to other players in the past after few failures. I think showing faith in him just like we did for Rahul might help him. I don't know honestly how good he will turn out to be but I think dropping him right now won't be a good idea. I think we have a good squad and all the batsmen in the squad can be retained for the Sri lanka tour. G_B_ 1
WeStMiDz Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I always think he's so much better when he's aggressive with the bat. The times he looks out of sorts is when his mind gets muddled and he's stuck in between two modes. But captaincy wise I was quite surprised, tactically seems to be very astute. Well played. beetle, G_B_ and sscomp32 3
CoverDrive Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Rahane was great and good to see him enjoy the leadership. I also thought Ashwin could have been made the captain. His best part is his catching which is the most rare skill in our team right now. Lovely batting today and just the right approach. G_B_ and putrevus 2
sscomp32 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Loved his captaincy. And the way he destroyed aussies with the bat in final innings was symbolic:) With him as VC and kohli as captain the combo could work very well. His calm personality will be good when its really needed. Sidhoni, beetle and G_B_ 3
beetle Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Henceforth Kohli should let Rahane take the call on drs.Kohli is too excitable. Sidhoni, speedheat and sscomp32 3
BCCI Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Well done to him, especiallly the slip catching bit he is our best.I want him to be more consistent with the bat and hopefully he is kept away from limited overs side.
