Was not that good in the first 3 tests. Made captain and scored the best entire home season I would say (barring BD test)

He was brilliant yesterday to set up the slip cordon to get few quick wickets when indian needed to keep Aussies to low total.

 

And the today kept things calm and ensured it was an easy win.

People wanted to play Karun nair instead of him. rahane is the best bat along with pujara and now Rahul joined the group as well.

What a way he finished the match! Absolutely astonishing. Just came out with a resolve to get the job done and do it quick. Superb batting there and Rahane just showed us that he does not have to show raw emotions to get the job done. 

 

Behind that calm demeanour lie nerves of steel.

This Rahane is whom we all wanted to see. Except for the flat Day 1 session where he seemed clueless, he has been impressive in his captaincy.

I agree with the top part but regarding Karun, I think we can persist with him for Sri Lanka series just like we have given chances to other players in the past after few failures.

 

I think showing faith in him just like we did for Rahul might help him. I don't know honestly how good he will turn out to be but I think dropping him right now won't be a good idea. I think we have a good squad and all the batsmen in the squad can be retained for the Sri lanka tour.

I always think he's so much better when he's aggressive with the bat. The times he looks out of sorts is when his mind gets muddled and he's stuck in between two modes. 

 

But captaincy wise I was quite surprised, tactically seems to be very astute. Well played.

Rahane was great and good to see him enjoy the leadership. I also thought Ashwin could have been made the captain. His best part is his catching which is the most rare skill in our team right now.

With him as VC and kohli as captain the combo could work very well. 

His calm personality will be good when its really needed.

Well done to him,especiallly the slip catching bit he is our best.I want him to be more consistent with the bat and hopefully he is kept away from limited overs side.
