StriKe Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Quote Rising Pune Supergiant former skipper MS Dhoni has been reprimanded by the match referee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team's tournament opener against Mumbai Indians, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday (April 6). Though no official reason has been given for the reprimand, Dhoni has admitted to the Level 1 offence (Article 2.1.1) for conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game. No fine has been imposed on the Pune wicketkeeper. For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding. Quote Former skipper Dhoni might not have had the official responsibility of leading the team, but still remains an important figure in the dressing room as confirmed by Ajinkya Rahane after the match. And Dhoni made his presence felt on the field as well, leading the side and reproaching officials when he felt they were at fault. One particular incident caught everyone’s fancy when Imran Tahir appealed for LBW on Mumbai’s Kieron Pollard in the 15th over. Wicketkeeper Dhoni also felt the decision should have gone his team’s way and joined in the appeals as he jumped up and shouted the moment the ball appeared to strike Pollard’s pads. However, umpire S Ravi turned down the appeals, saying it was not out. At this juncture, Dhoni sarcastically signalled for a DRS appeal to make it known to the umpire that he did not agree with the decision. Replays showed that the ball hit Pollard’s pad first and was well in line to hit the stumps meaning Dhoni and teammates were right in their appeal. http://m.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/93835/dhoni-reprimanded-for-breach-of-ipl-code-of-conduct
Pollack Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Harsh indeed. S. Ravi is a poor umpire. Someone also needs to reprimand him for that. beetle 1
rkt.india Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 IPL too should adopt DRS, every team should get minimum one failed review. beetle and Mosher 2
philcric Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Nonsense. Nothing wrong in what Dhoni did. No way was it disrespecting the umpire. PS: Ravi is a good umpire. Just had a bad game. Think he's the only Indian umpire in the elite panel. rahulrulezz 1

silly_point Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Harsh and Nonsense and whats with disrespecting umpire, a poor decision is poor indeed, whether a player is sarcastic or normal.
express bowling Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Dhoni did nothing wrong there. Anyone may do it in the heat of the moment. DRS should actually be introduced. Mosher 1
Laaloo Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 (edited) This Ravi guy is one of the worst umpires umpiring today. Absolutely clueless. Was he the one who gave buttler lbw on an inside edge as well? Edited April 7, 2017 by laaloo New guy, express bowling, Mosher and 1 other 4
Mosher Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Pretty harsh on Dhoni. Players are not robots. **** happens in the heat of the moment. express bowling 1

Ultimate_Game Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 The bigger question is why isn't DRS or some sort of a review system (even a simple TV review would do without snickos and all those gizmos) not being used in the biggest cricket tournament on the planet? express bowling 1

G_B_ Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 hmm looks like IPL bosses really want to clamp down and have a quiet tournament this time.
Cricketics Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Lol, these IPL officials are so freakin sensitive that they do not even see the funny side of what Dhoni did. Dhoni and people around him saw the funny side of it as Dhoni showed good sense of humor by giving DRS signal but only the officials did not see the side the humor. It shows that they are guilty conscious.
