I think we are going down to a model where there is a pool and our players cam be given rest depending on opposition. So effectively , we arent giving cjance or trying new players.

Considering we habe such busy schedule, Its looks fair.

Not only shankar its time we look at gowtham or krunal as a hard hitter who can give more then 5 overs consistently as 6th bowler

Iyer and manish pandey will be warming benches in this series unless we win 1st 2 games , yet only one game against a side as good as minnow .

Axar Patel keeps getting picked. I rather have Shabaz Nadeem who has been ignored. Shabaz Nadeem has been traffic in last one year or two and deserves a go sometime. He can be handy bowler for India. Definitely better than Axar Patel the bowler.

Its fine to try Sundar too, Patel is okayish. but I would give chance to Nadeem as he has performed well recently. May be rotate the young spinners like Kuldeep and Chahal and Sundar and give Nadeem a game or two along with other 3.. Just somehow keep Jadeja and Ashwin totally away from LOIs and keep the other four and rotate between them or any other newbie like Chahar.

i would want one off spinner at least when we are playing at home. Off spinner is essential to tackle left handers. The reason NZ lefties were so successful as we lacked the off spinner. We can even play Ashwin at home if team has many lefties. need to be flexible about it.

Sundar is not much of a bowler.  He is a batsman first and far too young to be playing in the WC.

ashwin has hardly set the world on fire in ODIs in recent times. we need an alternative to him (and to sundar). Lack of offies is very worrisome in domestic cricket. Only ones with decent-ish records in Ranjis who come to mind are Rassool and Gani, but I cannot think of any List A offies. Maybe Karnewar has some novelty factor, but I'm not sure.

Going by his IPL stats (though I don’t normally attach lot of importance to it), he is difficult to score off. Would be good to try him in T20Is and then slowly get him into ODIs if he does well
