Ball did not do as much on day 4.

 

Pitch was tough to bat on but I don’t think it was dangerous at all as t was made out to be. We have seen much worse than this.

 

I don’t like the idea of hyping the bravery of our bats that they faced the music etc on day 3 and crap. What was bad was South Africans chickening out.

 

Since South Africans were chickening out, doesn’t mean we have to start hyping our bats that our players were brave.

 

Rahane and Kohli played well on a tough pitch by putting on 40 odd each. But rest of the guys weren’t any special brave by putting 15 runs and stuff. Thats not bravery. They just grind out tough phase. 

 

Elgar and Amla did better job

than our openers.

 

Like I said, Saffers chickened out. Doesn’t mean our top order was brave. Typical indian janta hyping the effort.

i haven't caught up on the news coverage. what was the outcome of the meeting between captains, umpires and match ref at end of day 3. obvously they decided to carry on but do we know what each party said?

We wanted to play but SA left that decision to Umpire and match referee. They said something like we want to play if conditions aren't dangerous

fair enough. nice way to heap the pressure on umpires without sissying out. so they didn't chicken out as such. at one point on day 4 they looked to be chasing the total down so it's all a moot point. India just better

Yeah because they can't say that in media since they will be called cowards if they say so which is worse than losing a match. But by this interview you can clearly see that they didn't want to play on that pitch in the 4th innings

To be honest, south africa had a fair shout at the target but they dint plan and execute it well, the first session on day four was yelling out loud that south africa would run away with this, they had 2 set batsmen in Amla & Elgar at the crease, Amla's wicket provided the opening to us and we wrapped it up from one end, Elgar gutsed it out, fought hard, he gained my respect with that performance but this continual menstruation from Elgar over the test not being called off and some oscar winning performances on the field somewhat over shadows on what was a tremendous performance by him with the bat.

Nope. Elgar wasn't complaining when south Africa was 123-1. He wasnt complaining when he and amla brought up 50s. But because they lost, the match should have been called off.

In all honesty, the pitch was again doctored on 4th morning. It started behaving totally different. They did something more than rolling with heavy rollers. 

In any event, they did not come out to bat until late, which goes against ICC rule.

Elgar actually played well with the bat but talking shyt about the pitch  after they have lost the game and saying that game should have been canceled only shows he is seeking attention and seeking appreciation of how well he played on a tough pitch.

 

Attention seeker, he would have gotten kudos for his knocks from Indians had he kept his mouth shut and accepted the defeat.

If batsmen plays with all standard protection equipments, especially back protection of helmet and finger padding...they are not gonna get seriously injured. they should learn from previous generation and show some steel.

no, nothing untoward happened in the first session. it was first wicketless session of the game.

While I don't agree with him, Elgar, for all his technical failings, is the one SA player who has fully earned the right to say it.  He showed b@lls of steel in his batting.
