Genuine wicket taker

SR of 51, bowling mostly in Asia, is superb  !

It has been consistently improving only. In last 18 matches he has taken 63 wickets at avg of 23.50 and SR of 46.9.

Zak had similar run for 20 odd matches and he became Indian great with that.

Shami is a much improved test bowler after returning from surgery in 2016

Bk is third with SR 53 .

Not bad for someone who for a large part of his career has been known for economical spell.

I hope he keeps  improving.

The one thing that's keeping Bhuvi from being truly elite is his inability to mop up the tail.  IIRC he often takes key top order wickets but isn't able to pick quick wickets in the tail.   Needs to work on that a bit, maybe use the yorker a bit more etc.

He's already averaging less than 20 runs a wicket since Jan 2016.  Imagine if he had been able to pick up a few more tailender wickets, his numbers would be ridiculous.

Is it inability or that the captain has other option for the tail? For example both in test 1 and 3, he was brought in much later and took 2 wickets and 1 wicket respectively. By that time Bumrah and Shami had already taken most of the tail

Such a great bowler when on form. When he was wrecking the tail in the third test it was a thing of beauty to see the ball release from his hand. He reminds me of Ryan Harris another bowler plagued with injuries.

It's not just this series.  He does need to work on targeting the stumps more effectively for tailenders.
