This type of harrassment itself is big punishment. It drains you mentally

That does not diminish the fact that this cretin belongs in jail for involuntary manslaughter that we got away with.

He got away there but he is caught for this one. 5 years will turn him into a better person so I hope.

Screw the monnies. Who wants such money anyway. He should have been boycotted for killing people. But greedy people invested in him. They all deserve to lose.

Has one Bollywood biggie come out and supported the verdict? IIRC they blamed/abused the homeless guy who got run over because apparently it was his fault to sleep on the pavements. Bollywood is filled with scumbags and morally bankrupt individuals. Probably no other film industry in any part of the world has as many crooks and cowards as Bollywood.

Women, children, elders, animals, environment, etc., are treated poorly in Ind. It is time a mesg is sent to stop abusing these

Animals are treated same way everywhere. people eat them for dinner everywhere. I dont agree with anyone going to jail for killing an animal.

There is a difference between killing for food and killing for fun.

One is human and the other is a sadistic beast.

Add Arijit Singh to the list.

This guy Salman is a vindictive egomaniac.

from today refer to bhai as Qaidi no 106 as in "This guy Qaidi no 106 is a vindictive egomaniac". :phehe:

But seriously, Vivek had a really good start to his career. Company, Saathiya, Yuva... he could have been a superstar if not for Qaidi no 106. I'm sure Vivek and Arijit will visit a Being Human store sometime this week just for kicks. :giggle:

This is sad truth of India, If an animal like in this Blackbuck case has strong community backing then even Salman Khan cannot escape, In That Hit and run case the victims belongs to his community so there was no community backing for them

Its not just an animal. It's listed as an Endangered species under IUCN red list. What's the point in spending so much on conservation habitats and schemes if you can't even properly penalize an accused?

If I'm not wrong Black buck comes under schedule one of wildlife protection act and hence enjoy high protections under the law.

Say what you will about Indian Govt but one thing we have been quite good at is conservation of wildlife after the Independence. Our tiger, one horned rhino and Asiatic lion population has increased gradually in last few decades despite the earlier signs that they might go extinct soon  .

This dinner table argument is absurd. And I'm glad Indian judiciary doesn't share your views on it.

Until you keep these animals in that endangered list, they will keep disappearing. Let govt remove all the prohibitions and allow rich businessmen to breed them as their business and see how the numbers increase.  Any animal species that is of some use to humans will not go extinct.  It is a simple theory. Many animal species came and went extinct even before human existed and then some new species came into the world.

You failed to understand my point. Nobody here is denying the natural process of extinction of species. Infact 99 percent of species that have existed since the inception of life on Earth are extinct now. But you seem to be confusing it with Human led Anthropologenic extinction.

The 6th mass extinction event that is currently undergoing in Holocene has been accelerated to 100-1000 times faster than natural one thanks to human interventions. This has had a drastic effect on environment and ecosystem as well as biological cycles of different elements essential for surviving of life on the planet. The entire food chain gets disturbed which has cascading effects on every trophic level thus indirectly leading to disappearing of other harmless species.

And your point re usefulness to humans is laughworthy. FGS not every animal could be compared with chickens and cattle. For instance take example of Indian one horned rhinos: Historically They are one of the most poached animals in India thanks to the use of many of their body parts in natural medicines. Now as per your logic, they were quite useful to humans and thus should have thrived. Now here are some facts, due to indiscriminate poaching for their horns their population had reached to just around 12 individuals by 1908.

It was only because of concerted efforts by Govt and locals that National Parks and reserves were set up for their protection and as of now as per last census they are somewhere around 2400 and we are targeting a population of 3000 by 2020 which is quite an accomplishmet imo.

And no keeping animals on Endangered list doesn't lead to their increased disappearances. Snow leopard was once placed on Endangered list but thanks to strong initiatives taken by Govt it's population increased considerably and now they have been demoted to Vulnerable which is good.

Things aren't as black and white as they appear.

You can't breed wild animals...defeats the purpose, don't confuse a blackbuck with domesticated cow or sheep. Moreover these are endangered because of low genetic diversity, allowing them in their natural habitat and opening wildlife corridors cutting across different regions is the only way to save them. There is a reason why Ranthambore tiger population is facing a crisis, it is because it is cut off from other tiger populations (South, Terai, Central, East), hence the gene pool is shrinking and getting more disease prone. Even assuming you want rich patrons to breed them, what will happen to the food chain in their parent ecosystem? Just removing one link in the complex food web of the wild can create havoc, we can't play around with nature.

This, one of the rare feats we can be proud of. Even our forest cover is increasing every passing decade though well short of the target (33%). Indian Forest Service and MoEFCC deserve credit, IMO our forest officials are the best public servants esp considering the meagre resources and threats, if our police and public administration were as efficient as the forest departments we would be a 1st world country today.

Definitely. As per latest State of Forest Report, the tree cover has increased substantially which is praiseworthy and Ministry of environment and those dedicated Forest officers must be appreciated for it.

Even IIRC, National Wildlife Crime bureau received a prestigious award from UN Environment programme last year for it's successful efforts in trying to save indigenous turtles (Kurmas I think). We are definitely on right track on this Dept.

people themselves are very close to nature, especially in rural areas. no public servant can discharge his/her duty effectively without a considerable amount of support from local populace.
