I bet Pandya would have got some wickets under clouds on day 3 as well. He only bowled under the sun on day one.

Pandya has batted with more grit and better technique in this test than all our batters apart from Kohli.

 

And batting has not been easy ... with the ball swinging a lot for a significant part of the game and there being a bit of seam movement too.

Still support him playing Tests, but seemed out his depth in this match, once again had an opportunity to see India past the line, probably not the finisher type you want better to play Pant in next place

Seeing Curran taking wickets and runs makes it more fustrating

He looked good in the first inning b/f a great delivery by Stokes, scored 31 in the 2nd

 

His bowling was bad this match, expensive 4.6 ER no wickets, but bowled only 10 overs and none in 2nd innings

You didn't watch his bowling then.  2-3 boundaries came off genuine edges.  And he gave a couple more in that phase when Bairstow and Root were kicking it up a notch.  He actually bowled decent in the 1st dig.  

 

 

And I say that as someone who wanted Jadeja/Kuldeep ahead of him in this test.

Switch Pandya with Jadeja, both hit and miss with the bat. But Jadeja is a useful bowler and India's best fielder.

 

Jadeja has his place in the Indian set up, just not in ENgland. His bowling is too sterile for English batsmen, easy to score off.

What is heartwarming is that Pandya did all the difficult things: 

 

* Bowled in the first inning, when Ishant and Yadav were struggling to provide support. However was not bowled when conditions were more favorable 

* Scored 22 to bring momentum back to Ind when the specialist batsmen fell like pins 

* Should have come in ahead of Ashwin and Karthik or may be even at 5, but came in way down to score the gritty 31 

 

As I have been saying, considering the current strength of our team, its performance depends upon heroics of players like Pandya .... Only if we had 2 Pandyas in the 11 

 

what a player! .... will be supporting promising players like Pandya, Kuldeep and Pant in the series

That's down to the pitches, this 4 man "pace attack" will not pick up 20 wickets in Aus, consistently or other flat tracks in England.
