perffect example of bits and pieces player. Heard of such players in LOIs, in Test cricket there are v few.

Played like a proper tailender today, one inside edge ,one outside edge and then another edge to get out

acha hua 15-20 run nahi maare, warna 2nd highest scorer ka raag sunne ko milta

So is he Jonty Pandya now after being Jacques Pandya?

Jonty on the field, De Villiers with the bat and Steyn with the ball.

Exactly what Stuart Binny is doing wrong, add some jewellery and swag, voila the team has two seam bowling all rounders. May as well drop ishant and shami as well!

He is more or less like Binny but for some reason gets hyped like he is a second coming of Sobers.

From what I understand, argument for Pandya is:

Batting - he plays in difficult overseas conditions and top order is not scoring so it's ok for him to waste old ball and get out cheaply. After all it is the job of Rahul, Kohli, Vijay and rahane to score runs, not his. He is expected 2nd grade and you have to deal with failures. At home he will be dropped for kuldeep.

Bowling - ok, so if he bats in difficult conditions, so why is he averaging 50 with ball in series? Because most of the job is done by main pacers and he doesn't get chance to bowl. If he gets chance in Asia, why would you expect him to pick wickets?

So, can't expect to bat or bowl then why not pick a specialist bat instead of him. Because an AR is important and how do you know batsman is going to do better than him. We don't have SRT and Lara on bench - this argument sounds familiar for a former Indian test captain.

Overall contribution - you're not losing because of Pandya, so it's ok play with 10 players as some are failing.

The way his bowling has declined since SL series, he certainly will need to pick wickets else his sr will be 100 soon.He does needs few cheap wickets and should make most use of these conditions today when he bowls.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Pandya calls up BCCI and requests for a ' home series' against Nepal. Ofcourse, this has got nothing with his record against better teams. He just wants our neighbouring countries to do well in world cricket.

Today he has a terrific chance to get his sr very lower than his career  bowling sr of 88 and bowling average of 47. Hope he picks few wickets at lesser sr and average to consolidate a poor bowling series against Afghanistan and SA. Actually this is a series which will help him a lot in sorting out his bowling performances in past.
