What are your expectations from Pant and Shaw if they are played this series?

Hypothetically ....if they both debut this series. What are your expectations.

What will make you think...good we tried these kids in a tough series where others failed.

 

Pant...I want to see him to do a decent job as a keeper. Don't expect him to be very good...just not a bad keeper. Hope he gains from the experience and learns.

 

As for his batting...would like him to show a bit of grit like he showed in the A tour. It is much tougher than a A tour but would be happy to see him fight it out . 

 

Prithvi...

The same as Pant. 

Try to stay there and show some fight . Get some of his good form into the big game.Runs will be bonus .

 

It will be tough, very tough....but hope they can give us some kind of hope for future. 

And if they do show some fight...I hope they are continued into the easier home series.

We know they will do well in home series...

i highly doubt that pant will do worse than him ..

I don't want  pant to have his debut in this hostile environment with us 2-0 down and broad-cloudu-woakes in red hot form it wll harm his confidence, but if we hand him his debut I want him to score some fluent 50s in each innings along with agile wkeeping

Not a fan of shaw, but expectations same as pant!

Pant is in the squad so will come in. Shaw is not and should only be drafted in if he is given the confidence that he would be persisted with for a few series irrespective of how he performs in the current series 

 

For Eng, it is better to introduce pace bowlers as the conditions would help them

i have doubts on Shaw succeeding against Anderson with the massive gap between his bat and pad.But he would score some runs atleast than Vijay who is at 34 on his last legs.Also it would be a nice learning experience for him before the Australian tour.

Pant should be played  in 3rd test ahead of Kartik. He can't do worse.If IND losses 3rd test too , then Shaw also should be played in last 2 tests.

I would get Gill before anyone else.  He is the only one who is not a frontfoot plonker of all the current players.

I'm okay with introducing new talents as long as they don't replace them right away after a couple of failures. Just give them an extended run, yes Shaw's technique is vulnerable but Vijay, Rahane with good techniques aren't doing zilch either. Pant can't really do worse than DK, can he?

Agreed. If not for anything India should send a strong message to the players. Not like they get out because of bad luck. THeir core skill is suspect.
