Lala Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 (edited) After winning the toss and elected to field first on a flat track is the worst decision done by England. Why did they chose after 2-0 up with the series. Could it be done by deliberately in order to add some spicy to the remaining matches of this series? Will there be a chance for India now to level the series? Is there any possibility for India to win the series? Is there occasions in history that a team who lost first couple of games came as a winner ultimately? Even in Ashes? Discuss Edited August 22, 2018 by Lala Mosher, beetle, velu and 2 others 1 4

Discuss They thought we were going to bat like the way we did at Lords but we played brilliantly same way he opted to bat at Lords against your side and lost so maybe that must have been done to make the series interesting Lala 1
Switchblade Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Root is a very poor captain and tactician to be honest the way I see his captaincy outside England his side will be hammered already 0-4 in Australia and 0-1 in New Zealand lost to Pakistan India and Westindies at home.We lost the momentum in the first test otherwise we would have been 2-1. Vilander Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 aside from Indian batsmen not being prepared. This was supposed to be 2-1 in Indian favor..who would loose chasing under 200 in second inning unless you are unprepared, that too by 30 runs.. Bumrah and Hardik did well this game..its difficult for Eng to come back now. India will take the series 3-2. Switchblade and express bowling 2

Discuss the same can be thought about several matches .... champions trophy final 17.... I was shocked when Virat opted to bowl first. But as a captain ,Virat would have got other ideas in his mind. But then these things happen. ENG thought with Anderson getting into deadly wicket taking mood can roll over India. More over the pitch also gave an impression of being juicy, infact not impression it was indeed juicy. But then the left right combo of openers for a change put up a descent partnership, Rahane(who always has been capable of producing a good score at any time, any where ) came to the party with the in form Kohli etc etc. 329 by any yardstick cannot be termed as a huge score. But then bowlers rose to the occasion and the rest followed. So , all in all India deserved to win. Lala 1

After all they elected to field first in the previous test as well. He is just trying to devalue India's comprehensive win. Pandya ran through England middle order On the same day Anderson/Broad could do zilch against even Dhawan/Rahul. Khota 1

That seems to be the norm and fellow ICF folks fell for his con job. OP should be more magnanimous but he will not be.

Great conditions for Broadandu run amok. Why for a change we can't give credit to Indian batsmen? Frustrated, Switchblade and Khota 1 2

Discuss I genuinely feel apart from the toss the biggest blunder England made was omission of Sam Curran, you see all the England pacers in this test has that sameness about them, Curran was the guy who provided them left arm angle plus his batting was quite handy, they might play him in Southampton but I am sure the guys will be ready for him plus his rythem might be broken
Nikhil_cric Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 There was enough movement both in the air and off the deck when England bowled. The difference was the pace of the wicket. It was a shade slower than the previous ones and English bowlers were not quick enough to exploit it. Also stokes and Anderson were a bit wayward and got punished a bit early on. Not enough pressure. The post lunch session of day 2 should give you a clue. Our bowlers bowled about 5ks quicker and better lines and lengths and that was the difference.
