Why are India so bad at knocking over the tail ?

Well are bowlers don’t put up much fight when batting so may be they expect their counterparts to fold over as well automatically .... have to put effort and startaegy to pick wkts up .... captaincy with respect to field setting was poor as well

When weaker opponent comes we try to bully him. Even in gully cricket we derive sadistic pleasure watching inferior batsman dancing to the tunes rather than getting him out quickly.

And as the tailender spends time on the crease defense gets better and better.

By the time bowler reverts to disciplined bowling tailenders are well set and confident.

Our bowlers lacks the mindset to go for the kill in the first 10 deliveries.

Traditionally, Indian bowlers have relied on length deliveries. This has been a trend. Apart from Agarkar and Zaheer, dont recall very many bowlers who had good yorker.

Now, when it comes to ODI's, one uses yorkers, however in Test cricket, even the experts use it sparingly. One reason is because if a yorker goes wrong and hits the bottom portion of the bat, it does a fair bit of damage to the ball. Secondly, in test batsmen are not in a hurry to score runs, wherein in ODI's, they are ready to hit the ball and in the process are beaten by yorkers.

Now these are theories which I am assuming hinders the bowlers to try yorkers in test cricket. Also, I think the bowlers relax a bit when the tailenders come. They seem to be going just with the motion, expecting the batsmen to make mistakes rather than creating one.

I think the rarest sight in cricket is an Indian bowling lineup - at home or otherwise. Why does India struggle so bad to knock over the tail ? And why is this something that Pakistan has always done better than us ? Discuss.

Yeah Pakistan is always better than you because you guys are being complacent at the end, but we fight till the end. Moreover we always have better bowling attack to finish off tail than India. So simple :cantstop:

yeah your great attack can't save you from series loss at home.

You know how hard to play on a day 5 pitch and any team would be on the losing side in UAE. Toss makes lot of different to the results of the game. If India was chasing the 323 like Aussie.... let's not talk about the India chasing in day 5 in SENA :cantstop:

Chillax guys, opponents are not minnows and they are playing at their home. 264/9 is not a bad show at all by our bowlers.  In tests there will be the one or two odd partnerships.

Our bowlers have not even allowed them to build a single partnership over 50.

Fall of wickets: 1-28 (AJ Finch, 11.6 ov), 2-44 (MS Harris, 16.2 ov), 3-60 (UT Khawaja, 23.3 ov), 4-84 (PSP Handscomb, 36.5 ov), 5-115 (TM Head, 56.4 ov), 6-156 (SE Marsh, 72.1 ov), 7-187 (TD Paine, 84.1 ov), 8-228 (MA Starc, 100.4 ov), 9-259 (PJ Cummins, 108.4 ov)

yeah but 78 runs on a 5th day pitch by the last 3 wickets is unacceptable.
Especially when its the captain who is too cowardly to attack and sets one-day field for his bowlers and has 4-5 dollies go untaken in expected 2nd slip/gully positions due to missing fielders !!!

We have won most home series in the last 3 years despite losing the toss.  Your team can't win a single match at adopted home after losing toss. :cantstop:.

Because Indian bowlers can look at how Pakistani bowlers used to knock over tail with reverse swing and try to do the same even though conditions have completely changed now.

yeah he thinks reverse swing was some magic that you spell a mantra and ball will start reversing which only Pakistanis can do.

Manju & the other commentator showed the lengths the bowlers displayed depending on the batsman. With Harris, it was 50% good length while with Cummins it was a spread of short, good & full length. The other metric was 3% of our deliveries we're hitting the stumps yesterday against the global average of 11%. Lack of a spinner may have affected the latter number but improvement is possible.
