No one enforces follow on now.  Bolwers get a rest, Batters dont bat last on wearing pitch, oppo bat last on wearing pitch plus if they have a total to chase sometimes get out going for it

I do not think I have an issue with the follow on, rather how they went about the 2nd innings. You do not want to give the psychological advantage back to the Aussies. Its like stepping on their throats and instead of keeping up the pressure, they let it loose. Champions are usually ruthless which India still has to master. Besides Vihari all the other wickets were silly.

You do realize that its hot AF out there, and our bowlers bowled their hearts out to take 10 wickets?  They need proper rest so that they can go all out again and take the next 10 wickets in this test.  And the following match in Sydney as well.  No need to sacrifice that in pursuit of an "innnings" victory.  I still expect Aus to keel over for less than the lead we have anyway.  Let the bowlers rest for another session or so.

Everyone here is forgetting the fourth in three days after this test. Grind them aussie bowlers to the ground and it should easy for us in the next test then.

This is test match cricket. Bowlers are expected to bowl on average 225 overs. Thats 50 overs a bowler in a 4 bowler scenario. Even if that is too much, any bowling attack that is whining its 'too hot out and we are tired' after 60 overs is unfit for test cricket.

 

Sydney can wait. If we win this, the trophy returns home with us. If we dont win this, we leave the door open for the trophy returning to Australia. Securing the trophy is priority #1 and Kohli has shown he is a coward for treating his bowlers like they are made outta glass.

How does not enforcing followon equate "not winning"?  Why are you shifting goalposts?  

 

Second, its foolish to ask the bowlers to exert themselves more than what's needed.  There's no ifs or buts about it, it is what it is.  

 

But I know you have a problem with accepting when you are wrong, and prefer to vomit out thousand word essays instead.

So yes, even with additional rest since yesterday and the cloud cover above, the cumulative fatigue was evident in our bowlers today during the last hour.

 

With overnight rest and a new ball in hand, they should wrap things up within an hour. This was a clear cut case of workload management, not cowardice.

It was an absolutely right decision.

In a 4 man attack one(Ishant) was out of steam after 2 sessions yesterday. 

Shami is always a short burst bowler.

With an attack like this you cant bowl 6 sessions on trot.

I don't know which is high risk.

1. Draw due to rain intervention because the Aussies are never chasing 400 on this wicket.

2. Risk an injury or overworking ahead of the Sydney test.

I would think that the latter one is riskier

Don't think so imo. Not enforcing the follow on is the norm nowadays.

 

They failed to aggregate our first innings score and couldn't bowl us out even once. This was effectively an innings defeat. Only rain could've saved them in this Test.

Virat was very clear in his message chasing in 4th innings over 150 is tough on the pitch. He played it safe little bit and the bowlers got much deserved rest. You are analyzing too much on 3rd innings they wanted to get runs fast and got out.

I don't know what factors involved. But they made up their mind  way before Australia got bowled out.  Kohli is very very particular about squeezing whatever rest possible for fast bowlers. He gives them business class. He gives  all the comfort needed for them. He just needs them to be switched on while playing. That is the one aspect i love about Kohli. He is very clear about the fact without combination of fast bowlers you can do zilch abroad. Unfortunately when we had the best fast bowling combination in history we had some of the worst overseas batting performances.

You don't see follow ons these days anyways.  This was along expected lines..nothing out of the ordinary.   Especially on the 3rd day when the match can take a swing and your bowlers would need to bowl for two straight days.  There was enough time in the test and you can't always play according to predicted weather which in this case wasn't 100% certainty either. The weather didn't play any part in the Test.  Easy win in the end, pacers got rest and with the next test in a few days, the rest would certainly help.
