Jadhav the 6th bowler can cost us big and Shankhar

Sorry but jadhav is part time garbage.  He has got away with it till now.  But in wc and big game can see him being 2 overs for 20 and costing us a game.  Same for Shaknhar has 2 for 20 in him

 

Why do we endlessley seem the need to bowl someone for 4 to 6 overs as 6th bowler?  Should use 6th bowler if one of main 5 bowlers is clearly having bad day.

 

Whats wrong with 5 bowlers all bowling 10 overs?

How do you know when one of the top 5 is going to have a bad day.. Hence the need for the 6th bowler to play in the XI every time.. But need not necessarily bowl in every match

I am not saying drop Jadhav.  He 100 per cent is in my team as batsman.  Really good and has followed Kohli mantra and got fit

 

Just done know why we have to bowl him all the time.  Like you said if main bowlers have bad day then bowl , not this pre scripted must bowl a 6th bowler

Naa, pretty decent as a 6th bowler. I would agree with you of the risk if he bowled 10 as 5th bowler.

 

Looked up numbers, has ER below 5 and have seen him bowl post 40th over as well. Avg/SR aren't bad at all for a part timer. Quite a utility cricketer.

plus that low arm action doesnt give him bounce which doesnt let batsman have elevation and he keeps changing his arm few times in over. He is also very consistent for a part timer

Jadhav averages 30 and econ of 4.9 something.. has the history of breaking important partnerships...

with his unconventional action, he is a good asset to have.. Only has a few years of cricket left in him... good to use it while it lasts

Top 10 spin bowlers in ODIs in SR the last 5 years, Jadhav is #6, he is basically an extra frontline bowler for us. Plus he averages 40+ @ 100+ SR with the bat. He should have a cemented place in the WC squad. ODIs aren't Test cricket where a player supposedly needs to have some great "technique" or beautiful bowling action. 

 

Look at the Pommie or Aussie sides: they fill their lower, lower-middle order with players who are fit for the modern ODI/T20 game, regardless of them being hacks or not in the longest format. India shouldn't be left behind looking for classical style players.

Jadhav is fine. Can get us those 3-4 overs when needed as none of the top 5 can bowl. Shankar was playing ahead of Kuldeep , will not be playing ahead of a bowler.

 

If anything, Shankar should be seen as a specialist batsman who can occasionally bowl 2-3 overs. Has a very decent FC record and showed great temperament today. Pick him ahead of DK as a specialist batsman, DK is a T20 specialist

How a 6th bowler can cost you a match ?  He is not even supposed to be bowling if you have 5 options . 

Also he may bowl 3-5 overs at the most . If he gets hit you my give him just 1-2 overs and stop at that point.

So basically he is there for to cover injury . Most teams use 6th option so that you can then be flexible with other 5 bowlers . Imagine you have only 5 bowlers . Then you may have to keep 5 overs from 2 bowlers at the end . If some one start getting hammered then at that point have a no escape route. But if 3-4 overs are bowled by your 6th bowler , now you can keep more options to bring different bowlers at different stages . That is big adavnatge of 6th option running through some overs without a big damage .

Point is this.  He is 6th bolwer option, why bowl him if others doing well and take overs of them?

 

Repeating theme were bolwers doing well and still he is brought on for 4 to 6 overs.  This could come back to bite us in a  big game as he has 2 overs for 20 in his locker no doubt!
